Chapter 15

ALEX’S P.O.V

I watched the door slam behind Sydney, my gaze dropping to my hands guiltily, maybe I’d been a bit harsh. No, I’d definitely been too harsh, I’d basically kicked her out of the flat!

“That was a dick move, mate.” Keegan said, staring at me sadly before spinning on his heel and walking out of the room.

“I know.” I whispered softly, wringing my hands together. I couldn’t believe what I’d done. I’d overreacted so much, it was just a harmless prank, this would probably wash out in one or two washes, but I’d still taken it out on Sydney. And I felt terrible.

I walked around the kitchen mindlessly, trying to find something to do to take my mind off Sydney, who was luckily at work, so maybe by the time she got home I’d have figured something out, but for now I just wanted the guilt to go away. I grabbed the dishwashing liquid out of the sink and began filling up the sink, dumping in all the cutlery and plates off the bench. We had a dishwasher but right now I just needed something to do.

I tried to think of other things but a picture of Sydney’s face when I’d shouted at her was engraved in my mind, refusing to leave. I sighed, placing a dripping wet plate in the dish rack. Maybe I should make her favourite food for dinner to say sorry. I dropped the brush in the sink, distracted, and opened the fridge to make sure we had the makings of chicken fettuccine. I grabbed everything out and started preparing the meal, planning on making it so I could reheat it when Syd got home.

ARI’S P.O.V

“Sydney! Thank God!” Abbie shouted as I walked through the door, placing my bag on a hanger behind the counter and tying my apron around my waist, watching Abbie carry a muffin over to an elderly lady sitting at a table.

“Sorry I’m late,” I sighed, “I just pretty much got kicked out of the flat.”

“WHAT?” she screamed, the muffin falling from her hand and down the woman’s front. “OH my goodness I’m so sorry ma’am, let me get you a new one.” She gushed, a blush forming on her cheeks. “What do you mean kicked out?” she asked, walking over to the case of muffins and taking out a new one, placing it on the plate that held the previous one.

“Well Keegan and I may have dyed Alex’s hair green and put flour in his hairdryer…” I mumbled, my gaze dropping to the floor.

“Oh god not the hair.” Abbie gasped, before launching into hysterics, her eyes beginning to water from laughing so hard. Until she saw my face. “Oh my god I’m sorry, you can come live with me and Mark for a while, he won’t mind.” She rambled, pulling me into a hug before remembering the muffin and running it over to the lady.

“So what, he didn’t kick Keegan out too did he?” she asked

“Nope, just spouted off about how it was a bad idea to let me live there and how all I did was ‘skyrocket the food bill and cause trouble.’” I replied, making air quotes with my fingers as I quoted Alex.

“Oh Sydney,” she cooed, pulling me into another hug, “he’s just a silly boy, he’ll come around.”

“I’m not so sure.” I said sadly, pulling from her embrace as someone walked through the door, going over to the counter to take his order. “What’ll it be?” I asked, smiling at the man standing in front of me.
