The meeting had been progressing smoothly; key points discussed, papers reviewed, and the deal edging closer to finalization.

“So, what do you say, Ms. Yn?” Martin asked, leaning forward with a smile. “When do we begin?”

Yn gave a small nod. “Sometime next week, I believe. I have a few things to sort out over the next three days, so it’s best we start fresh after that.”

Martin nodded thoughtfully, turning to his secretary to wrap up any remaining formalities.

Yn glanced at the time, a soft sigh escaping her lips. Just then, her phone buzzed quietly.

A message from Jungkook lit up the screen. She smiled instinctively, fingers quickly tapping a reply.

“I’m so sorry, baby. I’m still in the meeting, it’s almost over. I should be back in about 40 to 45 minutes.”

His response came quickly. “No need to apologize, love. I understand. Did everything go okay? All good?”

Her heart softened, missing him. She wished she could blink and be home already.

“Yup! Everything went great. It's getting late though. Have you eaten? Please make sure you eat something before I get back. I’ll worry otherwise.”

Jungkook sighed before typing his reply. “I’m fine, don’t worry, alright? I’ll wait for you. We’ll eat together.

You know I can’t eat without you. Just come back soon. Don’t stress yourself. I’ll be right here, waiting. I love you.”

Yn smiled softly, shaking her head with a small sigh. “Alright then. Please take care, okay? I’ll be home soon. I love you so much more! Bye, baby.”

With that, they ended the chat. She slipped her phone back into her bag and turned her attention to the table, rejoining the conversation.

Martin was presenting a document now, turning his laptop toward her as he walked her through the key points.

Yn listened attentively, nodding as Cortney jotted down notes beside her. She chimed in now and then, offering her own insights as they moved closer to wrapping things up.

A waiter arrived, placing their drinks down with a polite smile and a soft greeting.

The atmosphere had shifted to something lighter now, the intense part of the meeting behind them.

With glasses in hand and the pressure off, they eased into more casual conversation.

Cortney sat beside her, scrolling through an iPad as she showed Yn the layout of the new website they’d be working on.

Yn leaned in, eyes scanning the screen, thoughtfully taking in every detail.

Her eyes were fixed on the screen, but her mind was elsewhere, a strange sensation creeping through her body.

Her heart stirred with unease, yet she brushed it off, refusing to give it weight.

She exhaled slowly, as if trying to steady something inside her.

For a moment, the rhythm of her heartbeat seemed to soften, thud slower—quieter—than it should.

Her breathing faltered, a subtle hitch between each breath. She blinked, once, then again, as if the room had dipped slightly out of focus.

Her head felt heavier now, as though invisible hands were pressing gently on her skull.

She set the glass down, fingers trembling as they left it behind. A strange warmth curled in her chest, not comforting—burning.
