The dinner went fairly well, though Yn remained mostly silent, only nodding occasionally to keep up with the conversation.

Jungkook, however, had his eyes on her the entire time, noticing every subtle movement.

At this point, his curiosity had overtaken his concern because he could sense she was hiding something.

After a pleasant amount of time spent together, Yn’s parents eventually decided to leave.

Now, alone in their room, both Jungkook and Yn were resting. He continued glancing at her every now and then, reassured by the sight of her reading, which brought him some relief—at least she seemed okay. Just then, his phone buzzed, and he reached for it.

"Hello?" Yn picked up on the shift in Jungkook’s voice as he spoke on the phone. She watched him quietly, sensing something had changed. Once the call ended, he stood up and walked over to her.

"I’ve got a bit of work to handle. Will you be okay on your own? I won’t be long," he reassured her.

She gave him a small nod. "Yes, no worries. I’ll be fine. Go ahead."

"It won’t take long," he added, his voice softening. "You should rest, though. You look tired."

"Okay," she agreed with a faint smile.

After they said their goodbyes, Jungkook grabbed his keys and left the room. Yn set her book aside and leaned her head back with a deep sigh, trying to relax.

[An hour later]

She stirred, slowly opening her eyes as she shifted in place. Rubbing them groggily, she glanced over at the clock and frowned. "He’s still not back?" she muttered under her breath.

Straightening herself, she attempted to stand but was forced to sit back down when a sudden, sharp pain throbbed in her head, causing her to wince.

She sat, pressing her hand to her head, wincing from the pain. Turning to the side, she poured herself a glass of water and quickly drank it down.

After taking a deep breath, she opened the bedside drawer, rummaging for a painkiller. There, her gaze fell on her diary.

She pulled it out and slowly and randomly flipped through the pages. Ignoring the ache in her head, she picked up a pen and began writing, trying to release the weight of her emotions and calm her restless mind.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she scribbled down her troubled thoughts, finding some peace as the words flowed onto the paper. After a while, exhaustion set in, and she slowly drifted off to sleep.

[A few hours later]

The door creaked open as Jungkook quietly stepped into the room. His eyes immediately fell on her sleeping form. Approaching her, he frowned, noticing the odd position in which she lay asleep.

Her head was awkwardly propped on her arm, her body bent at an uncomfortable angle, lying face down on the bed.

Jungkook crouched beside her, his brow creased with concern. "Why is she sleeping like this?" he thought, puzzled.

Not wanting to disturb her, he carefully lifted her head and leaned it back against the headboard.

As his hand brushed against her forehead, his expression darkened with worry. Instinctively, he grabbed her wrist to check her temperature.

"She’s burning up. What’s going on? Why didn’t she tell me?" he whispered, his voice filled with rising anxiety. His mind raced as he looked around the room, momentarily frozen by panic.
