The phone barely rang once before it was answered.

“What the hell happened?” Daehyun’s voice was low, sharp, trembling with barely-contained rage.

“I told you to take her there because I trusted you. One simple task, and you’ve already lost her?”

“Sir, she was prepared,” the man answered hastily. “It was all pre-planned. Before we could react, she attacked us and ran.”

A string of curses slipped from Daehyun’s lips as he leaned forward, gripping the steering wheel, breathing through his frustration.

“Where?” he asked, his voice cold.

“It’s hard to say. The rain’s made everything foggy. I couldn’t see clearly.

I stepped out to chase her but by then she was already in a car, speeding off. I tried following her, but… she was gone.”

Daehyun ended the call without another word. His jaw clenched, the engine growled beneath him as he slammed his foot on the accelerator, tires screeching against wet asphalt.

“She can’t be far,” he murmured under his breath, eyes narrowed, fury burning in them. “Run all you want. I’ll find you.”

Two blacked-out cars followed closely behind, tires slicing through puddles as they stormed out into the rain-slicked streets. Their eyes scanned every turn, every shadow.

“The second I find you,” Daehyun spoke, jaw tight, “you’re fucking dead.”

Streetlights flickered through the downpour, casting distorted halos across the slick roads.

Her wipers struggled to keep pace, screeching back and forth, barely clearing the glass before it was drenched again.

She couldn’t see clearly. But she didn’t need to.

Her hands gripped the wheel tight, arms aching from the tension. Every nerve in her body was locked in survival mode. Horns blared.

She cut through the lane, skipping a red light. The city didn’t matter anymore. Rules didn’t matter. Only escape.

Daehyun drove like a man possessed, weaving through the streets with a mind only set on one thing; her.

His grip on the wheel was bruising, knuckles pale, eyes darting between headlights and shadows. Frustration crackled in his chest.

Street after street blurred past, cars and lights flashing by as he darted between lanes, scanning every corner, every shadow, searching for her.

And ahead of him; she ran.

Yn’s hands gripped the wheel tightly, her breaths shallow as she maneuvered through the streets, overtaking cars, pushing through the rain-drenched chaos.

Her fingers trembled against the wheel, but she didn’t ease up. Not for a second.

But fate didn’t play gently.

A motorbike shot out from a side lane, too close.

Her breath caught. She slammed the brakes, tires screeching against the rain-slicked road. The car skidded dangerously, her body jolting forward, but it didn’t crash.

Just inches from disaster, she sat frozen, chest heaving as her heart thundered inside her.

The motorbike sped off, disappearing into the rain, and for a fleeting second, everything went still.

Then, horns blared behind her. She glanced into the rearview mirror, her eyes locking onto a black car rushing closer.

Daehyun.
