Chapter 72

Jungkook had expected these two days with his brothers to be exhausting, but surprisingly, they turned out to be... peaceful. Mostly.

Sure, Jin and Jae were nosy as ever, their questions relentless, but Jungkook enjoyed their company more than he'd thought. It had been a long time since he had spent so much uninterrupted time with them, and despite the suffocating weight of his secret, he was happy.

The three of them sat in a cozy café near campus, Jin and Jae sipping their coffee while Jungkook absently stirred his iced americano. They had spent the morning walking around the university. Jin commented on the campus architecture while Jae complained about how much walking they had to do.

"This place is nice," Jin admitted, stretching his arms behind his head. "I see why you like it here, Kook."

Jungkook smiled. "Yeah. It's been good." Better than good, he wanted to say. Perfect, because of Taehyung.

Jae leaned forward, resting his chin on his palm. "So, have you thought about what you're going to do after you graduate?"

Jungkook blinked. "Huh?"

Jin raised an eyebrow. "Your plans, Jungkook. We're just wondering if you're considering coming back home."

Jungkook let out a small chuckle. "I... don't know yet."

The truth was, he hadn't given it much thought. His life here—his relationship with Taehyung—was all he could focus on. The idea of leaving and returning home without him was unimaginable.

"Well, if you decide to stay here, I might be close to you," Jin said casually, sipping his coffee.

Jungkook's head snapped up. "Wait, what?"

Jin was shifting here? In gyeongju

Jae smirked. "Oh, he didn't tell you? Our perfect eldest hyung got an offer in Seoul. Pretty big one too."

Jungkook turned to Jin, wide-eyed. "You got a job offer? In seoul?"

Jin shrugged, but Jungkook could tell he was pleased with himself. "It's a senior cardiologist position here, Though i still havent accepted the offer yet."

"Why not?" Jungkook asked, still processing the information.

Jin hummed thoughtfully. "Irene and the baby are back home. I don't know if I want to be away from them. Nari is still so little."

Jungkook bit his lip. His niece, Nari, was barely five months old, and he knew how much Jin adored her. Leaving her behind wouldn't be easy for him.

"But if you do accept, you'll be in Seoul full-time?" Jungkook asked.

Jin nodded. "Yeah."

Something inside Jungkook twisted. He should have been happy, knowing his brother would be close by. But all he could think about was how much harder it would be to keep Taehyung a secret.

Before he could dwell on it too much, Jae spoke up. "And I'll be in Busan, so it looks like we'll all be scattered."

Jungkook turned to him. "Busan?"

Jae grinned. "Got an interview there next week. A good one. If all goes well, I'll be moving in a few months."

Jungkook blinked. "Wait... You're moving? why?"

Jae nodded in mischief, jin smacked his head "as if appa would, allow it"

"Ah you both got out for something or the other I wanted to try living on my own as well" Jae said.

Jungkook sat back in his chair, trying to process it all. If Jin took the job in Seoul, things would change. 

Jin would be close to Taehyung, in Seoul.

It was tiresome to even think

"Hyung," Jungkook said suddenly, looking at Jin. "What does Irene noona think about you moving to seoul?"

Jin sighed. "She says she'll support whatever I decide. But I know she wants me home."

Jungkook nodded slowly. He understood that feeling all too well. Wanting to be near the person you loved.

His heart ached at the thought of Taehyung.

Would he and Taehyung ever get to the point where they didn't have to hide? Where could they talk openly about things like this?

"Anyway," Jae said, stretching his arms, "whatever happens, we'll figure it out. Right now, let's just enjoy these two days."

Jungkook smiled, pushing his thoughts aside. "Yeah. Let's."

For now, he would just enjoy being with his brothers.

But the nagging ache for Taehyung never left.
