"We are dying," She continued pulling at the weeds, "Paradise, the Other Side, Earth, nature," She listed. "Everything is dying."

"Isn't that the job of Nature Enchanters?" They're supposed to maintain the balance. Mystical versus mortal is essential to keeping the universe in constant balance. Too much on either side will cause chaos felt by the supernatural community and the mortal world.

She let out a puff of air from her nose. Looking into the sky, she pulled a dandelion up. Her eyes were locked on the spot. The grass around it was slowly turning black. "Alessandra's propaganda against you is causing them to rebel. They see you as an abomination."

"But the prophecy-"

"Was never truly accepted by the Nature Enchanters," she interrupted, "Julianne and I were never meant to create you. We went against the rules of natures. I knew the consequences." She held my gaze as she said, "You and your daughter have been given this burden."

"Why?" White hot anger flooded my veins. My daughter, an innocent soul, is a target. "Why would you make me go through all of this? You brought us into your war. A war you should have ended yourself!"

The answer was simple. Warfare. I am a soul that was never meant to have a life of its own. This pregnancy wasn't supposed to happen. A life after the war was not taken into consideration. The thought made my stomach churn.

I'm merely a weapon meant to save the world.

Did they consider a world after the war was over? I suppose they expected me to I continue my duty as an Enchanter. I'd spend centuries waiting the five souls i'm meant to protect. Then spend the rest of my immortal life as a supernatural bodyguard protecting a family that doesn't need it. A family that can only be destroyed by one thing.

But what if one of them wanted my freedom just as much as I did? The soul I fell in love with. The other half of the child I carried. Maybe then I'd be able to feel mortal emotions for myself.

Happiness. Pain, Love, Heartbreak.

Now here I am two thousand years later all alone with the war still raging with me right in the middle of it. I experienced a mortal life. It's all I know. Now i'm expected to leave it all behind.

Maybe it's better this way.

I pressed a button to drop the roof of my convertible as I shook the thoughts away. My decision to drive was to think but it was all starting to make my head hurt.

Morgan's instructions were clear. Gather intel, kill Alessandra, and fix the balance.

Sounds easy enough, right? Absolutely not.

I needed a lead, somewhere to start. So I called Bonnie. Abby seemed like a good place to start. She awkwardly agreed probably hoping it would go better than the last time we saw each other. Our problem were going on the back burner until I get this enchanter mess sorted out.

I wanted to face this new adventure with an open mind but already had an idea of how it would go. I'd see her face again. She'd try to explain and I won't listen because I could never comprehend what she did.

I would never leave my angel the way my mother abandoned me and my sister.

The day Abby left was the first time I experienced heartbreak. I was four at the time, and Bon was a couple of months away from two years old.

It was sunny that day, or at least that's what I remember. She helped me get dressed before instructing me to collect some toys for Bonnie and me. Once my sister was dressed she sat us on the couch while she loaded the car. In my four year old mind we were having a fun sleepover with Grams. I loved being at Grams house because she had a pretty piano and let me play however long I wanted.
