Chapter 100: Modern Day Life Graduation Part Fourteen

A/N: AND WE ARE HERE!!!! CHAPTER 100!!! ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!! Never thought that I'd be able to continue a story for this long. The previous record is my One Piece fanfic that has 50 parts, and we went waaaaaay beyond that lol. Two days, 48 hours. It wasn't a short amount of time, but it wasn't exactly a long time either. In this rather awkward amount of time, many things happened. Hinata, Aki, and Haruka were able to hone their magic abilities to an extent that holding the magic for thirty seconds was no longer a laborious task. Of course, they would still feel tired after each practice session, but they improved so much and so rapidly that the tiredness they felt afterwards was no different than what one would feel after a light jog. The advancement they accomplished made even Beatrice and Puck lost for words. "If only we had more time to study your Gate, in fact," was Beatrice's comment after their final practice session. Apart from that, the three also discovered that when they used magic individually, the rebound had regressed to a bare minimum too. There would still be certain signs of mana rebound on them, but it wasn't as severe as they first started using magic, and the rebound would just diminish over time without additional healing magic. "I cannot say for sure, but you've been under an extended exposure to magic generated by the native mana in this world, not to mention the constant and simultaneous collision of your magics with their respective superior and inferior attribute, those combined together might have helped you gain resistance to the rebound and make your bodies fully adapted to mana circulation and magic casting. You can welcome magic into your lives as long as you don't overuse it." Puck told them when they observed this very positive improvement, and with this observation, a new hope was sparked, and let us revisit the moment when it happened.

It was the morning on the last day before the departure, and after another rigorous training session, Hinata suggested that they try to use magic individually again to see how much each of them had improved. "I know that there is the risk of the rebound, but I'm just too curious about it! Can we try it?" Hinata asked pleadingly at Beatrice, who intended to decline this request but folded right after her eyes found the big watery eyes of Hinata's. "...Betty can't believe she falls for this every time, in fact, but fine, Betty supposes. Your controls of magic have grown very substantially and incredibly indeed, in fact. If Betty were to tell the truth, she is quite intrigued by the growth of your abilities too, Betty supposes. Carry on, Natsuno-san, and remember, just hold it for a few seconds, nothing reckless, in fact." Beatrice said sternly, and Hinata nodded. "You have my promise, as always!! Here we go!! Fura!!" Hinata casted the magic upon his palm, making it swirl in place like a miniature typhoon to resemble Rasengan, his favorite thing to do. The strong wind current made his clothes ripple and blew back his hair, but he managed to contain the magic to around himself only without affecting the others. After about ten seconds, the magic ceased, and Hinata held out his hands, his face lighting up with glee. "I don't feel it, Beatrice-san!! Back on the first day, it was always hurting after each use of magic, but now I barely feel a thing!! See?? There're no cuts either!!" He shouted excitedly, and Beatrice quickly took his hands into hers to examine them closely, an expression of surprise spreading across her face. "This is just so fascinating, Betty supposes! Betty can still see some signs of the rebound, but it does appear that it barely affects Natsuno-san now. You two, why don't you give it a try too?" Beatrice said, turning to Haruka and Aki, who nodded back eagerly. "Huma!/Dona!" In unison, they casted their magic as they uttered the incantations.

Haruka's water sphere came into shape, and rock pebbles floated up around Aki and orbited him as if he was a planet. Everyone watched intently as they maintained their magic. Their faces still showed that they were concentrating hard on the magic, but they no longer appeared to be struggling either, the training they had done in the past week reflecting quite visibly. After about ten seconds, they exhaled slowly and eased their breaths, wiping the sweat away from their forehead, and both looked down at their hands. "Hey it's the same for me. My hands didn't go all dried up and cracked like before!" Aki exclaimed, his eyes widening, and Haruka showed Beatrice hers too. "Beatrice-san, I don't feel any discomfort either! All normal!" She said excitedly, and Beatrice took Haruka's hands, caressing them gently as she examined them. "They are right, Betty supposes! The rebound has regressed to a point that it is barely detectable...! How truly fascinating, in fact." Beatrice said in awe as she let go of her hands. "Wow wait, so those three can use magic without repercussions now??!!?! Are you absolutely sure, Bea-ko?!?!?!" Subaru shouted as Aki, Hinata, and Haruka flung their arms around one another and started cheering and jumping up and down. "Positive, Betty supposes, Subaru. As long as they don't overdo magic, they should be safe, in fact. It would appear that magic has finally been incorporated into their bodies that casting it becomes something like using a muscle, in fact. If they don't overextend the muscle and break it, they will be fine, Betty supposes." Beatrice said, holding her chin and ruminating on this new discovery. "Betty is lost for words, in fact. If only we have more time to study your Gate, Natsuno-san, Kouyou-san, Tsuyumi-san." Beatrice said in the end.
