A/N: I AM BAaAaAAAAAaaAAAAACKkk!!!! It's been waaaaaay too long and I'm very very sorry about that!! Soooo I brought you this massive update!!! Not really sure how many chapters I'll write yet but I promise it will be worth the wait!! Hopefully... XDD Anyways here's chapter 35!! Please enjoy!!
As soon as they disembarked from the shinkansen and left the train station, the eight of them headed for the bus station where they would board the bus to go to their final destination, Kusatsu. They didn't talk much as they waited, as all of them were saving up as much energy as possible for the activities later. And as if knowing that they didn't want to wait for too long, the bus showed up in no time, and they all boarded it, and the bus drove off.
It was only a short, twenty-minute or so drive, and as the bus arrived at their destination, they immediately sensed the difference in the air. It was a very pleasant looking street, and there weren't many cars driving past either. Most of the people there were walking in a relaxed pace, allowing themselves to be embraced in the soothing air. Subaru and the others, stretching and looking around with great interests, spent a few moments to appreciate the slow and relaxing atmosphere. And then, Subaru turned around and waved his hand forward, indicating that they should get going, and obediently and excitedly, the group set off for their ryokan, Naraya.
Leading the way were Subaru and Hinata, who took it to be their responsibility to act as the guides, the former holding a tour guide in his hand and the latter checking his phone occasionally to make sure that they weren't going the wrong way. As they walked on, the buildings alongside the road were becoming more and more Wafuu styled, that is to say, traditional Japanese styled, and to the four girls and one spirit, Kararagi styled. "Ne, Subaru," Emilia asked as she hurried a little to walk beside Subaru, unable to contain her curiosity any longer and finally breaking the silence filled with excitement. "Mn?" Subaru answered, turning to her. "I've been wondering ever since we got here. I've read a lot about Kararagi back in Lugnica, and the buildings here greatly resemble those Kararagi buildings described in the books. How is that so?" Emilia said, putting her finger under her chin, looking around with widening eyes.
"Well, about that, I haven't got any solid answers." Subaru said, scratching his cheek. "I've heard about what it's like in Kararagi, you know, from Anastasia-san and her people. I've never really seen it before myself though, but judging from your being able to recognize the similarities, the buildings in Kararagi must look like these I guess. Oh, and a small correction, the Kararagi buildings resemble those here, it's the other way around, at least that's what I think." Subaru answered, frowning slightly and coming to a small pause. Emilia waited patiently before Subaru started speaking again. "And another thing about Kararagi, the Kararagi dialect, it's actually just Kansai-ben, the dialect from Kansai. So if you ask me if I have a theory about the resemblances, I'd say Hoshin of the Wilderness was probably a guy from Kansai who got isekai'ed just like me and fought his way through there and founded Kararagi." Subaru said, and Emilia let out a long and meaningful "Hoooooo".
"If that really is true, then it'd be a big discovery..." Emilia muttered, and Subaru laughed. "Well, I doubt anyone would believe that theory." Subaru said, still laughing. "Hey, whatcha talking about?" Hinata chimed in, causing both Emilia and Subaru to jump. "O-OOh, nothing, I was just talking with Subaru about how fascinating the buildings here look, that's right, just the buildings here, definitely not something about another nation in a parallel universe that shows great similarities with here--"
"WHA WHA WHA EMILIA-TAAAAAAAN!!!!" Subaru started screaming, trying to drown Emilia's words. "Emilia's overly straightforward responses and reactions sure are cute but this is not the time for those!!!" Subaru shouted in his mind.Fortunately, Hinata wasn't really listening to them anyways. His attention was back on to the map on his phone again, and the others, walking a bit behind them, didn't hear the quiet conversation between Subaru and Emilia either. Just as Subaru sighed in relief and Emilia apologized, Hinata started slapping Subaru on the right shoulder rather rapidly. "Hey, cut it, ouch! Oi Hinata! Stop it!" Subaru shouted in protest, slapping back at Hinata, who wasn't looking at him but pointing ahead of them. "We're here!! Look!" He said excitedly, and Subaru looked toward the direction where he was pointing at.
