'Elena Whitlow, a woman that was hospitalized recently from a gunshot wound by an anonymous culprit. A rather basic case with a hint of mystery...' Maxwell thought to himself as he drove on the busy roads. 'According to the file handed to me, there was no items stolen, which leaves me to believe that this was an attempted murder. Then again, the mother doesn't know anyone that could be a potential enemy of hers. There's no data on Carter Whitlow, so we couldn't find or question him about anything! The only action we could take is to question her son about anything that he may know about. Interesting...' Maxwell parked outside the Whitlow residence as soon as he arrived. He got out the car, surveying the area.
"What a tense atmosphere, like a horror map. The neighborhood probably got extremely cautious when the crime happened..." He said as he began walking to the doorstep. He looked around the door, "No signs of forced entry..." He said as he opened the door, it being unlocked for detectives to begin their investigation.
He further analyzed the door, stopping when he saw nothing.
He began his search in the living room, turning on the lights to see better.
Maxwell's nose scrunched up in disgust and irritation before covering his nose. "This place reeks of distressed Alpha..." Maxwell raised a brow in confusion, "Wait a minute, the mother is an Omega, and so is the son—according to reports! So, why is there scent residue of an Alpha?" Maxwell questioned himself as he continued to search the space.
There was nothing out of the ordinary besides the scent.
"I'm surprised scent stayed around this long? It must be a Alpha that doesn't understand the potency of their scent, or how much they're letting out. However, if it's scents of distressed, I'm sure they had no idea they were releasing it in the first place." Maxwell placed his gloved hands in his pocket as he continued to search the living room, not finding anything critical.
He decided to search the other rooms.
"Hah?" Max paused before he full exited the living room, "Whenever I move away from the living room area, the scent gets weaker..." He said as he made his way to the kitchen, testing how weak the scent gets with distance. "Potent in only areas of travel, so frantic." When he smelt the scent getting weaker, he returned to the living room. He decided as he followed where the scent was strongest, hoping to find something.
This led him to the stairway.
The scent led him to two areas: the top of the stairs, and the side of the stairs. Since it was closer than upstairs, Maxwell walked to the side, seeing a door. It was a sizable door on the side of the stairs.
"Hm, a storage under the stairs?..." Maxwell had pushed the door open and two scents immediately crashed into his nose: the alpha scent that's been haunting him since he got here, and a more faint, sweet scent that pleases him. "An Omega's scent?" He looked into the somewhat sizable space, seeing a comfy fort of pillows and blankets.
"Wait, is this an Omega's nest?" Maxwell had searched the area, being careful as to not destroy an Omega's nest. "This place looks too small for Mrs. Whitlow, so it might belong to her son. The scent of an unmated omega is mixing well with this Alpha's scent. Maybe this Alpha is also unmated." Maxwell said as he moved from the small space.
"Not really much physical evidence I can take from that though, especially since the victim said nothing was taken, so I'm obligated to believe that this nest is like it's always been. Hm, but why would the culprit go to a nest.." The detective questioned as he peered up at the stairs, the scent being strong up there.
