"Who are you?" Kano asked immidietly. It was a women, one that looked strikingly familiar. In fact, she was the spitting image of my mother.

I squinted my eyes in disbelief. "Mom?" I wondered alloud.

She smiled, taking a step closer. But I remained still. Technically, I didn't know this woman. And with Tristan disappearing and this she-wolf suddenly appearing, I was apprehensive.

She paused in her movements, and I took a step towards Kano. Her smile slipped away and became a small frown. Kano seemed quiet too, probably deep in his thoughts.

"You're injured." She commented.

"It's nothing." Kano had taken most of the pain away. The only thing remaining was an annoying sting every time I moved.

"You've been down here?" I asked. She nodded.

She took another step towards me, like she wanted to touch me-or do something. But hesitated.

She sighed, probably sensing my apprehension, and smiled instead, "Come, I'll take you to my home."

I looked up to Kano, trying to see if his instincts were screaming at him to not go. But he shrugged his shoulders and gently brought his hand to the lower of my back to follow.

The woman in front of me looked just as I remembered. She had brown skin, a semi-slender frame, and dark brown eyes. Her curly hair was thrown into a high curly ponytail, and the clothes she was wearing seemed out of style. She was maybe an inch or two taller than me, but was still way smaller than Kano.

"Your home?" I asked out loud. "We need to make it back to the pack. Is this where you have been staying?" She didn't turn around and instead hummed.

"This ravine is scary enough to ward away any wolves. I'm surprised to know that you had somehow managed to make your way down here safely with your mate." She stepped over asmall rock with her boots, "Anyone else who has fallen has never made it." She admitted.

"Why are you down here?"

"Isn't it obvious," she turned around to look at me with a smile, "This is the best location for me to hide in plain site."

It made sense, "But how did you get down here in the first place?" I pondered out loud.

"There's a small pathway that leads to here, little one." I could hear the smile in her voice as she turned back around. She nodded her head up to what looked like a small wooden cabin. It seemed just big enough for one person to live in. She walked up a small flight of stairs that led up to it, then opened the small wooden door. "Come on in." She said as she turned around. We followed.

For some reason, I had a light feeling in my chest. The area seemed comforting, even though I felt like it shouldn't. I had never been here before so everything felt strange.

Kano seemed quiet, as usual. He was probably taking everything in and trying to understand it all.

As we walked into the small cabin, I could smell the intenseness of my mother even more. My wolf seemed satiated with the fact that her mother had been found. For once, she was quiet in my head. Maybe she was in surprise as well, as we had no mother-daughter bond that most wolves did.

I looked around, noticing the small trinkets everywhere, and the small pictures of me, my younger brother, and my dad. There was a large bed in the center of the room, and the wall to the right had a small table and kitchen connected to it. On the left was a bathroom that had a small door leading to it. On the ceiling hung one singular light.

"You've been living here the whole time." I breathed, taking it all in.

"Well at first, It was just used as a place to house my heats, but as the war became more of a possibility, it became my sanctuary."
