Chapter 34

It's been a week now, and Alec still hasn't answered my question. My family is leaving today, and then I'm going to make Alec answer my question.
Everyone in my family hugs me, and Emmett and Jasper glare at Alec. They don't like him because of his standing in the Volturi.
As they're leaving, Aro offers them all a place in the Volturi. I heard them talking earlier. Alice was going to stay, and Jasper would stay with her, which means Emmett and Rosalie would stay. I said absolutely no. But then Carlisle said he was staying. I said no, the rest of the family needed him. He looked sad, but kissed my cheek and told me he would visit often. And now they're gone.
I walk into my room and see Alec sitting on my bed. I am going to get the anwser to my question. Now. "Alec?" I ask. "Yes love, I'm going to answer your question." He says and pauses for a moment. "I love you." He says. I know him well enough to know that's his answer. "I love you too." I say. Then he kisses me. Every time we kiss, it's just like the first time.
After a few minutes, Alec pulls away. "There is a ball next week. There's always one at the end of the summer." That sounds...... Fun? " I say. He laughs. "It's actually quite boring. But it's mandatory. So, would you allow me to escort you to the ball?" He asks. "Hmm. I suppose I could allow you the privilege." I tease. He looks put out. Then I crack. "I'm just kidding! I'd love to go to the ball with you. But I don't know how to dance." I say. Alec smirks and stands. Then he holds out his hand. "May I have this dance?" He asks. I roll my eyes. "But Alec!-" he cuts me off. "Just trust me." He says.
I take his hand and he pulls me up. Alec puts one hand on my waist, and guides mine onto his shoulder. Our other hands are intertwined beside us. He starts to move his feet, and I try to copy him. After about an hour, I've got it. "Yes!" I yell, jumping up and down. Alec laughs at me.
The next day, I go to my lessons with Lily. She told me to bring somebody I trust completely, so Alec walks beside me. Right before I open the door, Alec whispers into my ear, "I love you." I barely hear him, with all the thoughts of the ball, my gift, the person making Jane and my dresses. And always in the back of my mind is the Severus man. So I absentmindedly answer "I love you too."
I walk into the room and see a man with a long silver beard, hair, and half-moon spectacles. Lily speaks first. "This is Albus Dumbledore. He has agreed that we should talk to you about this. Oh. And Alec, come back tomorrow." She says. Alec nods and leaves. Then Albus starts to talk. "Renesmee, have you ever wondered why you and Lily have more powers then other vampires?" He asked. "No. I really never thought about it." I say sheepishly.
Albus smiles. "What I'm about to tell you may come as a shock, but from what Lily tells me, you can handle it." He says. Now I'm worried. Is there something wrong with me? Then he speaks. "If you are like Lily, you have these powers because you are a witch. There is only one other I know of with these powers. And his name is Severus Snape." Oh. That's funny. Me? A witch? I read about them in a book, so I know they exist, but me? That's hilarious. Dumbledore frowns. "I can prove it." He says. "Although it may hurt a bit. It's called Occulency. I will go into your mind and read everything that's ever happened to you." I nod. So he points what I assume to be his wand at me, and says some words. I'm hit with an intense pain. After what seems like my entire life flashing through my eyes, it's over. I slump over in the chair. I can hear them talking, but I don't know what they're saying. Then I feel a pair of cold arms wrap around me, and carry me. I recognize Alec's scent. I snuggle my face into his chest, and fall into a very deep sleep.
