Nayeon - Family pt3

I think my next oneshot will be either Ryujin or Yuna. 🤔 Looking I haven't done one for either of them in a while.

You will know when you get there but the outfit is a blend of these two looks I guess in the pic, cos she looked fantastic in both.

After what was their biggest conflict just after Yuna was born, Y/n and Nayeon reconciled, the relationship got back on track realising this whole having a child thing was no easy feat for either of them. They needed to communicate and be a team, aware most of the time atleast for a while they were going to be running on little to no sleep. Having raw and deep conversations and really pay attention to one another, the had no experience of raising a child and had to compensate for that.

The demands of having a newborn was the new variable and could not make them take out their frustrations on each other. Ofcourse times would occur where they would snap at one another but it was inevitable with or without a child in the mix.

Nayeon having taken on the burden of the pregnancy never felt back to herself after giving birth, even though their marriage was fine on the whole, this was a personal problem. She felt emotionally raw and disconnected from her body, before hand she was confident and driven.

Motherhood had left her feeling a little bit like a failure which was far from the truth, but she couldn't quite get her mind off negative thoughts about herself.

There were times in the early months Nayeon often cradled the phone between her shoulder and ear as she paced a room she happened to be in, her baby fussing softly in the crook of her arm. "I swear Mina, I haven't slept more than two hours in a row for weeks. And yesterday, I cried just because the toast burned." she said, her voice cracking with a forced laugh.

On the other end, Mina listened patiently, the familiar background hum of her toddler playing audible through the line. Nayeon hesitated, then added "You never seemed this overwhelmed. You always sounded... like you had it under control."

The woman in the other end of the line exhaled, warm but steady. "I promise you, I didn't. I just had a head start. You're where I was not that long ago. Completely wrung out and doubting everything."

Nayeon leaned against the wall, the baby finally drifting off, there were always some days Yuna would be testing. She wanted to believe Mina, she really did. But something still gnawed at her, a quiet unspoken envy. Minas days now were filled with milestones and routines, while Nayeons were still an endless loop of feeding, crying, and self-doubt.

She vented often, sometimes daily, and Mina always answered, always reassured. She loved Mina to bits, yet each call left Nayeon torn between comfort and comparison, wondering when or if she'd ever feel that settled.

Yuna was around 9 months old now, for the most part life was settled by now. She was in the crawling stage and everything was interesting to her, increasing the danger towards her in the house. Both parents having to have eyes in the back of their head.

Y/n being the one working for the entirety of this time has felt a little like an outsider in their bond due to Nayeon being at home on maternity leave but knew it was only going to be for a brief period. However it did sadden her to have missed Yuna crawling for the first time, she figured there might be a couple of these milestones she potentially could miss.

She speculated her wife still had some ongoing insecurities with regards to her appearance and motherhood, one thing is Nayeon couldn't mask her emotions it was normally written all over her face. Once used to roam around in just her underwear at times, goading Y/n. She had a bravado that was borderline cocky. Nayeon had attended some groups for new mothers, had been going to gym classes, along with venting to Mina who truly understood aswell as her mother. Y/n observed a clear difference in her each month since giving birth, in a positive way.
