I found some motivation to write and this was the idea I got motivation for so I rolled with it. Some mentions of bullying.

Jeongyeon was twenty nine when she realized she needed out. Not out of policing entirely she still believed in the work, but out of the city grind that had been slowly wearing grooves into her nerves.
The sirens, the shouting, the constant edge, it all stayed with her even off duty, buzzing under her skin like a live wire that wouldn’t stop humming.
So she requested a transfer to a quieter precinct and found a rented little blue house in a quiet suburb where the loudest thing most days was someone’s lawn mower.
With her parents setting sights on retirement, they were selling up the property they had invested in alongside some shares. Thus creating some additional funds that her parents kindly put towards finding such a lovely home in a good neighbourhood for Jeongyeon.
This triggered Jeongyeons future planning, if her parents were hightailing it to tranquil retirement. She reflected on her duty within the city police. Having in the arguably short, grandscheme of work life had her fair share of on the job incidents and close calls already. A couple of scars to prove it, mental and physical.
Her next door neighbor introduced herself before Jeongyeon even finished unloading the moving van.
Edith L/N, seventy five, bright head scarves, bright eyes, and wind chimes strung all along her porch like she was collecting breezes. Lived with her siamese cat.
“You must be the new neighbour?” Edith said, pressing a container of cookies into Jeongyeons hands before the younger woman could even reply, as she towered over the elderly woman. “Oh! And look at you, youthful and strong! I’ve been needing someone with a bit of muscle, my grandaughter can't be here all the time. It’s nice to have someone young and fit nearby keeps me on my toes.”
Jeongyeon laughed awkwardly. Being called 'youthful muscle' was new, but sweet. And it didn’t take long for Edith to become a small, gentle anchor in Jeongyeons new life. It was nice to have someone wise and elder close by seen as her parents had decided on moving to Busan, which was hours away. Her fathers parents no longer with them and her grandparents on her mothers side had emigrated to New Zealand for some years now.
She brought her leftover muffins.
Jeongyeon fixed her squeaky gate.
Edith taught Jeongyeon how to brew tea the proper way.
Jeongyeon taught Edith how to spot scam calls.
Jeongyeon wasn’t used to neighbors becoming family, but Edith made it feel, inevitable, but pleasant.
During this short time Edith had talked her ear off having both got to know each other, in turn Edith knew she was a police officer only cementing good neighbour points. Edith not only felt content at having a kind and polite woman living in the house next door, she felt even safer in what was already a respectable area. Her granddaughter was also around her age so when she would be visiting atleast she could have something in common and not just listen to an old woman drabble.
A week and a half later, Jeongyeon was watering her driveway flowers when a deep blue hatchback rolled into Edith’s driveway. Edith nearly flew out her front door. “My darling! You’re finally here! Two weeks was far too long."
A young woman stepped out black jeans, messy bun, and a guarded expression. She hugged Edith, but her eyes flicked toward Jeongyeon.
And Jeongyeon froze.
Because she recognized that face from years back.
But the face recognized her first.
