Hayes' POV
"I-I think I might ask Rebecca out." I say, biting my lip.
Jill doesn't say anything for a second. Instead, she examines my face like she's trying to figure out what to say. I mean, she did say she didn't like me, right? I can move on a girl I had partial feelings for. I know I can. I have to.
Jill doesn't leave my mind. I don't know why. I like Rebecca.
"I'm happy for you." Jill says, whispering.
Wait, what?
"You are?" I say.
"Yeah. I hope you are happy with her." She says, with a small crack in her voice.
I don't know why she is acting like this, especially right after we just talked things over. She said herself she didn't like me.. I need to accept it, even if it's a little stab in the heart... I'll live. Somehow I always manage to anyways..
"I hope you are happy with her." Jill says, breaking the silence.
"I hope I'm happy with her too." I say, letting out a slight smile.
"So, when are you gonna ask her out and how?" Jill says, quietly.
"Soon, I hope. I need to for sure make sure I have feelings for her before I do anything. And I'm thinking I could take her to a carnival and bring her up to the Ferris wheel. I'll pay the guy to stop us at the top. Then I'll ask her." He says.
"She'd like that a lot. That's a really good idea. I wish you the best of luck." She says.
"Thank you." I say, lightly smiling.
"Just don't mess with a girls feelings, okay? Girls get hurt easily." She says.
"Don't worry, I won't," I say. "H-Have you gotten hurt?"
"All the time," She says. "It's like you can't control it, it just happens."
"I'm sorry." I say.
What else do I say? I can try to help her but it could be hard.
"It's okay. I'm used to it." She says, looking down and playing with her fingers.
Soon Nash and Rachel come and we told them we made up. They let out a sigh of relief and continued eating there food the waitress just brought to our table.
Jill looks down at her food while she eats. Her hair falls along her face but not in her food. She looked beautiful.
-
"You owe me dessert, Grier!" Jill yells, jumping on Nash's back.
"We're getting it to go!" Nash says, chuckling.
Jill hangs on Nash's back as we order for the slice of pie and head to the car.
"Thanks, Nashty." Jill says, smirking.
"Do you Grier's wanna come and hang out at our house?" Rachel says.
"Is your dad home?" I ask Jill.
"No," she replies back.
"That's fine with me." I say, shrugging my shoulders.
"Same here." Nash says.
We get into the car and drive to their house.
"Here's your phone." I say to Jill.
"Thank you, Hayes." She says.
I nod. "Tonight I need to show you what it's like to live. To be free from all your problems."
"Oh boy, okay. Nothing bad, right?" Jill asks.
