Jill's POV
"He must love you very much for standing out in the rain. I wish I had that." Ruby say, softly.
I look out to just see Hayes through the window.. Eyeing me down.
"I don't know.. He made it clear he didn't want to be with me." I say.
"Did he say he didn't want to be with you?" Ruby asks me.
"N-No. He just shrugged his shoulders and said he wanted to keep it a secret. Why date if you are just gonna keep a secret when you can share it with the world?" I ask Ruby.
"Dear, he is famous. Maybe he doesn't want you to get hurt with his fans."
I nod.
"Invite him in so I can give him a towel and a fresh cup of coffee." Ruby says, getting off of her seat.
She heads into the kitchen and I sigh and get up.
Hayes was staring the other way now. He was soaking wet.
I open the door to the little cafe.
"Come in. You are gonna get sick." I say, softly.
I'm guessing he took a cab considering I took the only car.
Hayes' eyes meet mine and I pull away.
"I rather get sick than have your eyes show hurt ness whenever you look at me. So, you go back inside and I'll stay out here and you can tell me when you are ready to go and we'll leave." Hayes says.
I sigh and I grab Hayes' hand. So many sparks flew off.
"Come inside. Now." I say.
All he does is nod and steps inside. As soon as we step inside, I let go of his hand. I'm not forgiving him that easily. No, not this time. I'm tired of him mainly causing the problems and me always forgiving him.
He sits down in a seat. I lean against the wall. I watch as Hayes puts his hands through his hair. The water drops coming down his face. The way his eyes showed puffiness do to crying. It was the details that fascinated me and I just couldn't help but stare.
He saw me staring and stared right at my hazel eyes. It was like staring was our thing. And I couldn't help but think we stare more at each other than actually talk.
I heard the sound of Ruby's heels clicking against the light pink tile floor and I broke contact of Hayes' eyes.
"Hayes, my dear! You are dreaded in rain! Here. Wrap this towel around you." Ruby says.
"Thank you," Hayes says.
"This coffee is fresh. Enjoy." Ruby says to Hayes.
Hayes nods and sips the coffee.
Ruby sits down by Hayes and she motions me to sit by her. I do. Hayes looks up and stares at me.
"Did you break her, Hayes?" Ruby asks.
I butt in.
"Don't worry about breaking me or making me sad. Because you can't break someone that is already broken and sadden someone who is already sad." I say, looking at Hayes.
Hayes' eyes drop to the table.
"Don't you realize I love you?" Hayes says, whispering.
Ruby looks at me with sad eyes.
"It's much easier to humiliate, degrade, and just generally shit all over someone, than to admit you love them!" I say.
My eyes seem to wonder around the cafe. The old cafe. The paint peeled off the bright yellow walls. Posters hung but nearly fell off. The music from Pandora played where you could hear it and your ears wouldn't hurt.
