Rue ran past the fire in the cathedral

Rue ran past the fire in the cathedral. The smoke made it hard for her to keep running but she knew Strucker wouldn't be too far from his soldiers. Made was sure to be the one who told Strucker they sent the text.

She ran into an alley just behind the building. She jumped back when bullets began to fly from above her. Strucker was on the roof.

Rue ran down the alley until she found a ladder. She waited at the top before climbing onto the roof. He was waiting for her.

Rue knew it would be smarter to wait for Adelaide or the soldier but she didn't have time. He was one man with a gun, she's beaten hundreds of those.

She reached for her gun with one hand, looping her other arm through the ladder to secure herself. She poked her head up slightly and saw Strucker at the edge of the roof.

Rue slowly climbed onto the roof. He turned and pointed his gun at her. They either both shot or both surrendered.

"Rue Herrmann." His head cocked to the side slightly. "Not big or strong enough to play with the big kids?"

"You're more important." She took a step forward and bullet landed next to her foot. She shot at his head but he ducked behind a vent that stood on the roof.

She ran to the other side of the vent system and his fist flew towards her. She used her palm to slightly redirect his punch as she dodged the other way.

She brought her knee up to his chest and pushed him away. Someone jumped onto the roof and reached over Strucker's head and pulled tightly until his body went limp.

Rue grabbed both guns and pointed them at the woman in the mask.

Scylla held up her hands in surrender but noticed Rue didn't let her arms down. Scylla began to reach for her mask when Rue objected.

"Don't move."

"He's down, not dead." She pulled her mask away from her face. "We need to go."

Rue's face fell when she finally saw Scylla's face. "You look just like her." Rue pointed out with awe.

"I do." Gerda nodded. "Give me a hand?" She asked, walking past Rue to get to the ladder. "Please." She added before climbing down.

"Oh, my God." Rue ran to Adelaide's side when she saw her lying on her side.

"Not so super now." Gerda shrugged. She saw Rue's face turn accusingly toward her. "Atlas went overboard on her. Get her in the limo."

Together they helped Adelaide walk to the limo. Then they struggled to drag Bucky to the limo.

"Grab his feet and I'll get his arms."

They lifted him into the limo and Adelaide helped make sure they didn't hit his head on anything. Once the door was shut Adelaide laid his head in her lap. When he woke up he'd be confused.

Rue got in the drivers seat again and was confused when Scylla opened the passenger seat door. "Woah. What the hell?"

"Just drive." Adelaide told her.

"I can find somewhere safe." Scylla assured them.

Rue looked in her mirror, hoping to find Adelaide with an unwilling look on her face or some kind of disapproval but when she looked back, Adelaide simply had her head resting and her eyes barely staying open.

"So how do you two know each other again?" Rue asked the two girls.

Gerda looked over her shoulder at Adelaide who was shaking her head. "I'm her older sister." Gerda ignored Adelaide's struggled sounds of protest.

"What!" Rue asked.

"Road!" Both Adelaide and Gerda yelled as Rue jerked the wheel to the side, almost causing them to go off the road.

Adelaide rubbed the bridge of her nose. She knew Rue was waiting for an explanation but she didn't have one. "Yep. Scylla and Atlas... yep... they're family." At this point she might as well tell everyone on the planet.

Adelaide looked down at the soldier. Blood had dried along his forehead and she pushed a bit of hair out of his face. It became so peaceful in the limo after a long and trying day it reminded Adelaide of the time she stole Rue away from her family.

She planned for a week and when it finally came to it, she couldn't bear to bring her back to the Red Room. But she didn't regret it. She didn't regret helping the soldier.

Adelaide sat in the back of the limo, humming to herself a sad lullaby as Bucky finally began to wake up. "What happened?" He asked, rubbing his head as he sat up.

Adelaide didn't want to tell him that a simple fight triggered that programming in his mind. "Nothing much. It's okay, I handled it." She assured him.

Bucky sat at the opposite window and kept quiet for the rest of the drive. "We're here. Everyone out." Gerda ordered them.

They all got out and began to walk around a densely crowded city. Bucky followed Gerda and Adelaide and Rue walked in the back. Adelaide already knew why Rue was walking next to her.

"Okay, cat's out of the bag, or whatever they say." Adelaide shrugged.

"Well then tell me why I didn't know this earlier." Rue demanded.

"Okay, well they were trying to kill us and I yes, I am a little ashamed of my family history." Adelaide said. "My father tried to kill Captain America and turned my siblings into failed super soldiers. I feel like I'm in competition with the Kardashians."

Gerda led them to an abandoned train stop that hadn't been used in years. Inside she showed them to a hidden room where she lit a few candles, illuminating the cozy spot hidden from prying eyes. Rue and Gerda brought food back to Bucky and Adelaide as they all huddled around in a circle.

"What is this place?" Rue asked.

"A hideaway. For times when I wasn't ready to go home." Gerda told her, pulling out blankets from under the floorboards.

Adelaide ate with her head down. She half expected Gerda to make a comment about family or abandonment. She knew it would've been better if she attempted to help her siblings escape Hydra, but they had been apart of it for so long and she expected them to be dedicated soldiers.

"I think we should all go into hiding. I'll call the Avengers to handle Strucker and the rest of Hydra." Adelaide told them. Natasha and Steve would back her up and contact the rest of the group. "Tomorrow James and I will go to a safe house. Rue you'll go back to the Staes. Gerda—" Adelaide looked at her sister, already finished with her meal and packing a bag.

"I don't need you looking out for me now." Gerda told her with a stern voice. Gerda watched Adelaide shake her head but she didn't care, she put her neck on the chopping block for someone who wouldn't do the same.

"You could come back with us." Rue gave an inviting suggestion.

Without a word Gerda covered herself in a blanket and pretended to fall asleep. Adelaide stayed up, waiting for Gerda to show she was still awake.
