Adelaide rolled off the door, her back landed against the road. "Heads up." Steve said through the radio.
Adelaide saw a car coming her way, but in the next lane she saw Steve hanging by the mirror of a truck. She stuck out her arm and he grabbed hold of her.
He threw her onto the truck and she landed. He followed her.
"You know what's in that cradle?" Lutron appeared from the back of the truck and both the superheroes turned sharply. Steve grabbed his shield, blocking them from a blast. "The power to make real change." Lutron told them. "And that terrifies you."
"I wouldn't call it a comfort." Steve threw his shield at Ultron and dodged a blast.
Adelaide slid on the hard metal of the top of the truck, avoiding being blasted or struck by a shield. She grabbed the edge of the roof and dropped into the trailer of the truck.
Two robots flew at her. Adelaide jumped, dodged, kicked and stumbled inside the moving truck.
She saw Nat approaching on her bike. The two robots were occupied with Adelaide, giving Nat to window to give Steve his shield back that he'd lost.
Adelaide was outmatched. In this day and age, super strength wasn't enough.
"Addy, can you draw out the guards?" Nat asked over the radio.
Adelaide stumbled after a blow to her face. "Seriously?" She grumbled as the pain in her cheek flared. Adelaide backed towards the edge of the trailer. "Clint?" She asked.
"Hurry out." He told her. The jet began to fire at everything below. Ultron and the roof of the truck. Adelaide jumped out and onto the road. She rolled to absorb the fall and then swiftly jumped out of the way of oncoming traffic.
The two robots inside flew out and chased the jet.
Adelaide stood on the concrete blockade that separated traffic. She held up her thumb and Nat drove by, picking her up along her way.
"We're going in." Nat told the others. "Cap, can you keep him occupied?" She asked.
"What do you think I've been doing?" He sounded breathless over the radio.
Adelaide jumped in first, followed by Nat as they left the bike to get blown into a trash truck.
"They're back." Adelaide warned Nat. But to her surprise they didn't attack them inside.
"Then hurry." Nat told her.
Adelaide went to the controls. Adelaide tried to override the controls but she was denied. She went to try again but was thrown back by a sudden change. Inertia pulled her back as the trailer was lifted off the road.
"Package is airborne." Clint told everyone. "I have a clean shot." He confirmed.
"No." Adelaide warned.
"Negative. We are still inside the truck." Natasha told him.
"What the hell are you..." Clint started to ask but Natasha had other plans.
"Just be ready. We're sending the package to you." Natasha began to cut the bands that kept the cradle in place.
Adelaide made it back to her feet. The sight behind her was a deep mass of water. She suppressed her urge to feel anxious, her team wouldn't let her drown. Probably.
"How do you want me to take it?" Clint asked, preparing to get the cradle from one mode of transportation to another.
"Uh, you might wish you hadn't asked that." Nat finished cutting one of the straps.
Adelaide regained her focus and got a hold of her rising lunch. She moved to cut the second strap holding the cradle inside.
"We gotta go." Clint warned the two women still inside the trailer.
Adelaide cut the last strap and Nat placed the bomb. As the timer counted down they jumped on top of the cradle and let gravity drag it out from inside the trailer.
Adelaide's knuckles turned white as she gripped tighter and tighter the closer they got to the edge. If they didn't have the right amount of momentum they wouldn't make it inside the jet. If the jet lowered or raised ever so slightly they wouldn't make it.
All she saw was the water below before they were engulfed into the opening of the jet. Adelaide felt relieved, falling off the cradle and onto the hard cold floor.
"Nat!" She saw the red head get pulled out before she could stand up and grab her. "Shit!" Adelaide ran to the open door of the jet but Nat was already being dragged away by one of the robotic henchmen.
"Cap, you see Nat?" Clint asked.
"If you have the package get it to Stark. Go!" Steve ordered them.
"Do you have eyes on Nat?" Clint asked again. He saw Adelaide take the copilot seat and begin strapping in.
