I can't believe he would just up and say... that! The fuck... who does he think he is?! Thinking he can come waltzing into my cafeteria making proclamations like that! Like, who does that?! Oh right, of course. Liam fucking Jenkins. Ugh, why is this happening to me?! Of all things in the world, I got to be stuck in this bullshit. Ugh... the fuck...
I made my way back to my usual table and watched Evan eyeballing me with a tightened jaw. My eyes glared at him, "What?!"
"Jeez, Gabe, calm down! What did he say to piss you off like that?!"
I was nowhere calm enough to talk about it, "I'll tell you about it later. Right now, I need to get the hell outta here. Skip the rest of school with me?"
"Hell yeah, I'm in. We can go chill at my place."
I looked at Kyle who was unnaturally staring into space, or whatever. I didn't bother seeing what he was staring at since I was more focused in getting the hell outta there, "Kyle," I shouted his name and caught his attention.
"Huh?"
"Skip school with me."
"Babe I can't. I have a history test next block and I can't afford to miss it. I'm sorry."
He wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and placed a gentle kiss on my temple. I jerked my head away when I felt his lips touch me and crossed my arms, "Whatever."
"Don't be like that, I'll make it up to you."
I turned around in his arms and stared into his sharp eyes, pouting angrily, "You're un-fucking-reliable, you know that?"
"I know, but that's why you love me," he snickered annoyingly in my ear and I could do nothing but push him off me. He trotted over to Evan casually and mumbled, "Take care of him, alright?"
"I got ya."
He winked at me so seductively, but in my mood, I just gave him the cold shoulder and watched him leave out the cafeteria. I was so furious that I forgot that Zachary was sitting at our table with us when this all transpired. I looked at him cautiously and then started to glare.
"Hey, Zach. You wanna skip the rest of school with Evan and me?"
His eyes popped out of his transfixed gaze and gave me an innocent glance, "Um, actually... I'm going to go talk to Liam. If that's okay, that is."
"Do whatever you want. I'm not your daddy. Let's go Evan," I thought I had calmed down, but I guess not. After my last declaration to Evan, I "accidentally" knocked a chair over and "accidentally" kicked it out of my way as we paved our way out of the cafeteria.
"Well damn. Never have I ever seen the King of Livingston so worked up before. Usually, you're calm in the face of chaos, but now..."
"I don't know why I let him get me so angry," I mumbled in response, him walking down the hall with me. We pushed ourselves through the dumbasses who decided to stand in the middle of the hallway and chat. We slipped out of the gymnasium doors and found ourselves walking to Evan's vehicle parked right outside the gym.
He unlocked it via his keypad and we both got in. Just being out the building made me feel more relaxed. And when Evan accelerated down the road, my mind pushed everything that had just happened to the back.
Florida Georgia Line's song 'Cruise' was on the chorus when the radio started playing, "I didn't know you liked country music," I said with a hint of a surprise.
