Class had started a few minutes after the Kyle Collins fiasco. My confidence was depleted at the beginning of the lesson since it honestly drained my entire being to stand up to him the way that I did. It was dangerous and reckless; I wasn't honestly thinking! I could've gotten myself killed! But I survived...
For now...
Anyway, I was seated at my desk, focusing on the subject of today's class. I wasn't necessarily doing a good job since my mind continued to stray off-topic. Wondered about Kyle's plan behind marrying Gabriel. It was the only thing I could think about unfortunately.
But then, the teacher would claim that I was daydreaming and snap me out of my thoughts. But before long, I was staring into space again. Odd enough, however, I started thinking about Zac-
"...come quickly!"
A student that I had recognized from one of the academic teams had burst through the door out of breath and extremely sweaty. I covered the smirk that etched on my mouth and muffled the chuckles that followed behind.
"What seems to be the issue," our teacher asked him. She invited the boy inside, but before he could close the door behind him, my eyes caught a few jocks running down the hall towards the cafeteria.
What the hell's going on?
"There's about to be a brawl in the lunchroom between the jocks and the academic kids! They're going crazy!"
Our teacher didn't even bother asking for more details. Her middle-aged womanly body tensed up and she bolted out the door as fast as her old lady heels could take her. Pretty damn fast if you ask me. Muffled chatter about the situation began to proceed around me.
A fight between the end spectrums of high school? Something about that just doesn't sound right. It sounded...
Orchestrated.
After realizing what was going on, I left the classroom abruptly. I couldn't let Kyle deal anymore damage than he already had! I couldn't let him get away with this!
I sped down the hall, the school colors blurring past me as I raced to the mess hall. My thoughts were bouncing off each other, another entering my head as one finished crossing. My heart racing faster than my feet touching the ground. My breathing hard and shallow. My body beginning to weaken. I wasn't built for this strenuous activity, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let Gabriel get hurt by this! Hell no!
And that determination, that adrenaline, is what forced my body into the scene of the crime.
I stood before a medium gathering composed of both students and teachers all yelling at one another. The authority figures trying to pry the more violent students off each other while simultaneously attempting to gain control over the brewing chaos. My eyes scanned across the entire lunchroom in search of either my friends, Gabriel, or Kyle.
"Holly?! Bridgette?! Gabe?! Kyle?!"
"Liam," a lower baritone voiced called out to me. That voice gave me chills, but they were the kind of chills you get when your favorite singer hits a high note perfectly. Amidst all the chaos, I was able to smile to hear him say my name.
"Gabriel..."
I turned around and there he was. Flustered and confused, but he pulled it off so damn well. The look in his mesmerizing green eyes stated that this wasn't his doing. That everything had just gotten out of control.
I was impressed seeing him so calm but it's reassuring to know that even the King of Livingston was just one person.
"Gabriel, what happened?!"
