At BPD-In the Morgue
Jane: Korsak has 22 years on the job, more citations than I can count. He's seasoned, he's grizzled. Do you know how many bad guys you have to catch to get that grizzled?
Jill: A lot.
Jane: That's right, a lot. What has Tom done?
Claire: Other than reorganize the citywide gang task force and that huge drug bust?
Jane: Blah, blah, blah. Korsak deserves to be the new lieu.
Jill: Why would Tom take the job? Do you think he's maybe exploring the idea of getting back together? It's possible.
Things change.
Jane: I care about my job as I did when we were together. That hasn't changed.
Claire: Tom didn't leave you because you cared about your job. He left because it was all you cared about.
Jane: Why are we friends?
Claire: Because I always tell you the truth, just like I did when I warned you, that whole thing about the kiss me not killer
Jill: obsession.
Claire: I did not say it but yes, obsession was going to cost you your relationship.
Jane: That psycho murdered two women. He brutalized them. He sewed their lips shut.
Jill: We know. We were there, too.
Jane: You both gave up. So did Tom.
I guess it was because I wasn't a detective at the time.
Jill: To change the subject, this is why I am not moving in with Luke. Moving in leads to marriage, marriage leads to ick. I'm giving the key back.
Maura: If it's the right guy, the ick's worth it. Trust me.
A man walks in.
Man: Miss Bernhardt?
Jane: Tom wasn't the right guy. He was a youthful mistake.
Claire: That lasted 4 1/2 years. 4 of them really happy, if you remember.
Jane: And now he's my boss. We're adults. It'll be fine.
She lays her head on Claire's shoulder.
Jill: Five years ago, Theresa filed a restraining order against a Walton James. She kept it active until last year.
Jane: Theresa had a stalker. I'm betting he looked a little something like this.
At Waltons' Place
Jane: Mr.James, open up! It's the police!
They break in the door.
Jane: Elevator! He's going to the elevator!
She gets him on the floor.
Jane: Walton James-You are under arrest for pissing me off twice.
