Chapter 57

Monday- Two Days Later

It's 6am and their alarm goes off. They get up and Jane goes to the bathroom. She gets dressed, and puts on the braces and harness. Then they go downstairs to eat. After they eat, Maura and Arizona get dressed and leave.

A Few Hours Later

Jane's at home watching tv when she gets a call from Tom. He says he needs her at the station. She says okay and leaves.

She walks all the way there and goes upstairs. They haven't gotten a case, so everyone's in the bullpen. Even Maura and Arizona.

She goes in and they start clapping and cheering. The chief walks up to her.

Chief: Do you want to sit down?

Jane: I'm okay. What's this about? It has to be big if Arizona who is supposed to be at work is here instead.

Tom: Chief Dodson's last day is today. He's promoting me to take over. Since there will be an open Lieutenants' position tomorrow, he asked everyone what they thought about giving you the job. We all said yes.

Jane: Even you Korsak?

Korsak: Yeah Jane. Even me.

Jane: But you've been wanting this job since before Tom took it.

Korsak: You need it more than I do. It's okay. I'm proud of you Jane. And so is everyone else.

Chief Dodson: What do you say Jane?

Jane: There's only one thing to say and that's yes. At least I'll still be able to be here and maybe I can help with the cases once in a while. Tom, don't even say it. I know the lieutenant doesn't help, but I also can't sit on my butt all day. I'd cramp up if I did.

Tom: Fine!

Jane: So, you both knew that this was gonna happen today, didn't you?

Arizona: We're sorry. We had to keep it a secret. Are you mad?

Jane: (exhales and groans) I want to be, but I can't. Come here.

She takes her arms off the walking canes and hugs them.

Jane: I love you.

Arizona&Maura: We love you too.

Tom walks up.

Tom: There is someone you need to meet.

Jane: Okay. Who?

Tom: The detective taking your place. Nina Holliday.

They shake hands.

Nina: It's a pleasure to meet the Famous Jane Isles. You're one of my heroes.

Jane: Well, it's nice to meet you Nina and I'm proud to be one of your heroes. Also, kissing up to the boss won't get you anywhere. Just a reminder. That goes for everyone. Especially when you become a detective, Frankie. I may be your sister, but I can't be bribed. I play by the rules.

Everyone: Got it Lieutenant!

Chief Dodson: There's also one more detective joining the squad. Frankie Rizzoli.

They all clap for him. Jane hugs him and says congratulations.

Maura: We've even got all your things in your office already. You just need to put them where you want them.

Jane: How'd you get that box out of the room this morning without me seeing you?

Arizona: We kinda went into the closet last night, grabbed it and put it in Maura's car. You were so out of it, that you didn't even know.

Jane: Thank you.

Arizona&Maura: You're welcome.

Chief Dodson: Well?

He holds out her Lieutenants' Badge. She puts her hand on top of it, takes it and then shakes his hand.

Everyone applauds and hugs her. For the rest of the day, she stays with Tom learning what to do and how to do it, while everyone else just sits and talks because of no case.

That night, they all go home happy for tomorrow.
