'The greatest trick Adam ever pulled was not teleporting me across universes. It was leaving out one crucial detail, which version of any character I was meeting.'

The lights of Adam's lab flickered overhead like in horror movies.

He paced with the mania of a caffeinated squirrel, fingers twitching as he adjusted the controls on his multiversal gateway.

You stood in the center of the circular platform, gripping the remote like it might explode in your hand, and with Adam, that wasn't entirely off the table.

"You're sending me to Wednesday Addams, right?" You asked, casually.

Adam didn't look at me when he answered.

"Yes, Wednesday."

You squinted your eyes at him.

"That's not an answer, you said Wednesday not the Wednesday Addams from the movie, the classic one, the one I know."

He smirked, still not making eye contact.

"You're familiar with the Addams family, right? So you will be fine."

"Sometimes, I want to grab your throat and strangle you to"

"I used to like it when my ex-wife did it to me, it seems like she didn't have a mutual preference."

You didn't know how Adam could say something like that in an emotionless way.

"I didn't need to know that!"

"Maybe you do."

The platform thrummed with energy, a soft whine building in the machinery around me.

Adam snapped a sleek silver brooch onto your shirt, his makeshift camera offering me one final grin that made you want to punch him in the teeth.

"Say hello to Wednesday for me, my dear lab rat," he said, then hit the button.

"Oh! You must be the new girl!" he beamed.

Strawberry-blonde curls, bright blue eyes. He wore the same uniform as the Nevermore students and had a crocheted rainbow scarf.

Eden Sinclair.

"I'm not dating, I don't plan on dating anyone and I think you would look cuter if you stay away from me."

You say that the blond boy could pull you into a hug.

Eden blinked, lips still parted mid-beam, arms awkwardly frozen in a hug position.

Then he laughed.

Not offended. Not hurt.

Just amused.

"You’ll fit in perfectly here," he said, dropping his arms.

"Wednesday's going to love you."

"I doubt that."

You roll your eyes, taking a deep breath before turning around.

"Hello-"

"You'd better have an explanation for why you disappeared during camp."

Wednesday states bluntly, with crossed hands.

So, this version of Wednesday does have the same memories as the other one.
