"Yes." I said after I took a deep breath. She smiled wide and hugged me. I only known her for two years. But, I did love her. So very, much.We got up and and she went straight to the kitchen. I turned on the radio to see if anything happened. "Gerard.!" Mabel yelled from the kitchen. I turned off the radio and went to the kitchen. I sat down and she put a cup of coffee on the table in front of me. I held it like my hands were ferns around it.
I couldn't stop thinking about earlier. It finally hit me that I was engaged. I smiled and she sat down across from me. "What.?" she asked looking into my eyes. "Nothing." I said suspiciously.
After breakfast, Mabel headed off to work. I got the house to myself. There was no one else here, so I was alone. I looked out my window and looked at everyone walking down the street smiling at one another. Mothers pushing strollers, children playing on the yard, cars passing by, people going to work. They all looked so happy. It looked like they were paid to smile. But they were actually happy.
I saw everyone wearing all these bright colors with golden blonde hair and rose red lipstick that shined, shoes that had not one stain on it, belts that had a buckle, million dollar smiles. It was just a view that I've always seen. Everyone was in place and nothing was wrong.
I didn't like that.
I took a good look at myself and saw that I was just like them. Maybe...
Maybe I could be different.?
I looked at my pants and saw that they were baggy. I just didn't have a fond of that. Why did females have to wear clothes stuck to their body. I went to the bathroom and splashed water in my hair. I made I look messy. I just really liked it.
I decided to enhance my style. A style that was different from everyone else's. I went in the bon bon box and got my money I had. I went out of the house and say a couple people stare at me for my messy hair. I felt like all the attention was turned to me. I guess I'll have to get used to it.
I arrived at a clothing shop. I went through the men's pants section. Of course, everything was baggy. I didn't like it. I decided to slip in to the women's clothing section. Turns out they didn't have pants. Darn.
I went back to men's clothing section and thought that I could buy pants that weren't my size so they'd be tighter. I made a good decision. They all fit me good to where it stuck to my skin. I just liked the way it looked on me.
I decided to stop wearing blazers and wear other types of jackets. There was only sweaters like cashmere. I decided to wear the long sweaters that were black. I liked the color black. It was different.
I went home and looked at myself in the mirror. I used this pen that Mabel had. She used it for her eyes like makeup. I started outlining my eyes with it. I messed up multiple times. I finally got it right. I looked at myself. I liked it. A lot. Even if it was for women, it was nice. I kept it on and went out of the bathroom.
"Honey. I'm ho-" Mabel said as she entered. She paused when she saw me. "What are you wearing.?!" she asked. "What I want." I shrugged. "I'm going to get dinner ready." she said as she walked into the kitchen while staring at me on the way. Like I said, get use to it.
During dinner she just kept staring at me. I finally looked up at her. "Yes.?" I said raising an eyebrow. She snapped out of it. "What.?" she asked as she rubbed her eye. I chuckled and looked back at her. She started chuckling too.
After dinner I helped Mabel with the dishes. I could tell by her facial expressions she didn't recognize me. Maybe this change isn't as good as I thought it would be.
She got into bed and laid on her side. I walked into the room. I sat down on the edge of the be at looked at her trying to avoid me. Maybe this was a bad idea. She turned and looked into my eyes and smiled. She started touching my hair and twirling her fingers on the top. I chuckled and held her hand. She started playing around with the make up around my eyes.
She giggled and wiped her hand on my shirt. I leaned in and kissed her. I laid down next to her and put my chin over her head. She buried her face in my chest. I started playing with her hair and heard her snore. I chuckled and fell asleep.
