We all paddled to shore with the other boats and quickly got off. Our shoes were slippery so every time we ran we would slip on the sand. I'd make sure Mikey was right by my side to get to the fence. I looked back and saw more ships come at us. They were all shooting gun fires at us."Go.! Go.! Go.!" Lieutenant Oliver yelled over the noise. We all ran to the fence but a sharp rock sliced my leg and pants. I yelped in pain and fell down. "Gerard.!" Mikey yelled as he ran to me.
I looked on my leg and saw a huge cut. It made me feel overwhelmed and dizzy. "Gerard.! Come on we gotta go." Mikey said as he gently slapped each side of my cheek for me to wake up. I then realized if I passed out I wouldn't be able to save Mikey. I was still pretty far from the fence.
I got up, with Mikey helping me, and ran to the fence. The pain on my leg went away after a while I could run to the fence myself and I ran faster. I slipped and decided to crawl. I hid behind a rock and looked at the men by the fence crying and helping each other.
I looked over the rock and pointed to the man shooting the gun fires with my sniper gun. I shot him and more men looked to see where I came from. I quickly duck my head down so he wouldn't shoot me. But I decided to just shoot them too.
After I was done I moved to the rock that was next to me. Every step I took they tried to shoot. But I just had to be a step faster.
After that, I realized that Mikey wasn't in my sight.
"Mikey.!" I screamed. "Mikey.!" I screamed louder. I accidentally bit my tongue in the process. "Fuck." I hissed. I spit out the blood and looked for Mikey. I saw him struggling to get to the fence.
I ran to him and helped him up. I saw that the ships were getting closer and closer. Almost near shore.
"Go.! Go.! Go.!" Lieutenant Oliver screamed.
Some men from the fence helped me up to the fence. I kept looking back to see if Mikey was close by. Once I reached the fence I caught my breath.
"Are you alright.?" A solider asked. I nodded my head and wiped my forehead. I saw Mikey still struggling.
"Come on Mikey.! You can do it.!" I shouted to him. I wanted to go over and help him but I was just so exhausted. Like, pass the extreme.
"Mikey.!" I some how let out. I didn't even want to talk. I was too tired.
Mikey was really struggling. "Brother.!" he yelled as he reached his hand out for mine.
I crawled a bit over there and extended my hand out. It didn't do anything. He was still a few feet away. I was crying and so was he. I needed him to get to the fence.
I got on my knees and crawled to him. But the men didn't want me to get closer to the ships. "Mikey.!" I shouted. He started crawling closer, but he wasn't crawling fast enough.
I was struggling to get the men off me. I felt like an octopus with my arms everywhere.
"Mikey.!" I yelled as I reached my arm out for him.
"Gerard.! Please.! Help.!" he cried.
I tried to tell to the men that I needed to help Mikey. I almost fainted when Mikey slid down closer to the ships. We was in trouble.
I managed to get off the men and run to Mikey but I slipped. I sat up and saw Mikey running toward to fence. He was getting closer to me and I grabbed his hand, but got pulled away when the men grabbed me again.
"No.! No.!!" I screamed as I cried. I needed to help Mikey. He needed me. "I'm going to help you.! I promise. Just hang in there.!" I screamed.
I saw Mikey crying and reached his hand out for mine.
It was the most heart breaking thing I ever saw.
The men set me down near the fence and I caught my breath. I was so happy when Mikey stood up and ran to the fence. He didn't slip. I smiled and wiped my forehead. He's going to make it.!
That is until, the Germans shot.
"Mikey.!" I screamed as I pointed to it.
He turned around and the gun fire interacted with Mikey's chest. He fell down and that was it.
"NOO.!!!!!" I screamed to the top of my lungs. I didn't have time to have a battle with the men. I just shoved them and ran to Mikey. I got to my knees and looked at him.
He looked into my eyes, one last time.
"I love you." he whispered. His head then dropped on the sand.
I took out cloth and wrapped it on his chest. "You're going to make it Mikey.! I promised.! Don't die on me.!" I screamed as tears streamed down my face.
The men grabbed me and pulled me back to the fence.
"NO.! NOO.!!!" I screamed as I looked at Mikey and reached out for him. "'Mikey no.! I'm sorry.!"
"No use.!" the men yelled as they sat me down near the fence. I started balling my eyes out and knew I couldn't go over to Mikey. I just stared at his face laying back and blood splattered on it.
I just couldn't bare to look.
I thought of that song I sang. I just decided to sing out loud.
"At the end of the world, or the last thing I see. You are, never coming home, never coming home.! Could I.? Should I.? And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me. For all the ghosts that are never gonna..." I sang to Mikey.
I realized what's happening in my life. Mikey just died.
All could hear was explosions everywhere. My eyes widen and I breathed heavy.
I closed my eyes, and everything went black.
