"We need to talk." I said. That caught Mabel's attention. "I'm going to war." I blurt out. Her smiled dropped in a blink of an eye. She started breathing heavy and started to stand up. I could tell she was light headed.

I sat her back down and explained. "I need to do this, when I come home, you'll understand." I said confidently. "What if you don't.?" she asked as tears ran down her face.

I looked her in the eye and said so seriously, confidently, and firmly "I will come home. I promise." I guess she believed me when she hugged me. "Promise.?" she mumbled in my shoulder. "Cross my heart." I said.

-one month later-

Tomorrow I ship out to war. Anxiety got the best of me. I was shaking. I was scared. I hope I survive.

I sat on the bed waiting for Mabel to come. It's my last night with her probably. I held back my tears and straightened up.

She walked in from brushing her hair. She sat on the bed next to me. "I'll miss you, so much." she said as she kissed me. I kissed back and grabbed her waist. She grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me closer. I laid back as she shifted on top of me. I grabbed a handful of her hair. Since my hair got long, she twirled the ends. She used her tongue while she kissed me. I didn't know you could do that. So I did it too. I guess if she did it I could.

I grabbed the strap of her dress as she sucked on my neck. I didn't know you could do that either. Her father did say she did bring a lot of guys home. I was glad I was her last.

I could feel her take off her dress. Whoa. Like whoa. If she did that then I guess it was okay for me to take off my shirt. Once I did, I threw it on the ground and continued to kiss her. I could feel her slipping my pants off. Whoa.

I never felt this sensation. Ever. It's something mama kept me from. Since mama wasn't here, I guess I could have fun with this.

-next day-

I woke up my hair tangled like crazy. I had no clothes on and my whole body was exposed. So was Mabel's. That was the best night of my life. I looked at the time. I had to go. I quickly got my uniform on and wrote a note for Mabel.

*note*

My Dearest, Mabel,

I'm sorry I had to leave early before you could awake. You looked too peaceful. I just wanted to say that I love you, so much. I promise to come home. I PROMISE. I'll see you soon.

I left it by the dresser next to the bed with a cup of coffee. I kissed her forehead and grabbed my stuff. I looked on the dresser and saw the compass Elena gave me. I grabbed it an headed out the front door. I blew a kiss to her as I looked at the window. I headed off to the dock.

Once I arrived, there were men everywhere getting on the boat. More men were were coming and standing behind me. I got in line and was getting even more nervous. I had chills going down my spine. After all it was December. It was still snowing out. Good thing the ocean wasn't frozen.

"Move it four eyes.!" a guy called out behind me. He pushed some guy and his head landed near my feet. "Hey, be a good solider.! Back of the line.!" a lieutenant screamed at the pusher. I looked down at the guy who hid his face until he left.

"Here, let me help you." I said as I extended my arm to help him up. He adjusted his glasses and grabbed my hand. Once he got up he looked at me. "Thank yo-" he froze. I froze. It felt like the world stopped moving.

"Mikey.?" I asked.

"Gerard.?" he asked.

Within a second we both smiled and hugged each other. I couldn't believe it. My brother was with me. This was an amazing moment. "What are you doing here.?" he asked as he let go. "I'm here to get brave and confident to see you and mama." I answered. "What are you doing here.?" "I promised Elena that I would go to make her proud. I guess she loved you more than me." he said rubbing his arm.

I patted his shoulder and smiled. "So, you and Mabel.?" he asked. "Married man." I said as I showed him my ring. "No way.!" he said as he observed. "Children.?"

"Whoa, not yet." I said. It felt so nice to catch up with my brother. It was amazing.

We entered the ship and each guy got to share a room with the ship. Since there was many men, there was two ships. I got to share to a room with Mikey.! Boo yea.!

I set my stuff down and jumped on my bed. It felt nice to be in a bed again. After all that standing in line and listening to orders and rules.

"So." Mikey said. "Where are we going exactly.?" "We have to go to training before we ship out to war." I said as I smoothed my hair back. "Nervous.?" "N-no." Mikey said with a stutter. I knew he was. But I know I'll be there to protect him. I'll make sure he makes it home to mama. I promise that. And I will not break it.
