Young Solstice POV:
My eyes opened for the first time to the world around me. It was dark and our only source of light was a bonfire in the middle of our hidden campsite. My father held me as my mother rested.
"You're going to change this world someday." He whispered. "It won't be like this anymore. It'll be how it used to be. We would go back to our roots of being a peace-loving race. No one would fear or hate us any longer. All because of you." Then I heard something different. The noises were loud and sudden as opposed to my father's soft voice.
"There's smoke this way!"
"I should've known they'd be hiding here! Storm the area! Don't let a single one escape!"
"Right!"
The land I've come to know was engulfed in bright lights and screaming. Father raced to put the fire out after setting me in the snow by my mother's tail. It instinctively wrapped around my tiny body. All I could do is watch as the magnificent embers went out.
"Found 'em!"
"What's this? We have two fully grown members of the Frost Demon race. Should we keep 'em or kill 'em, captain?"
"The emperor ordered us specifically to kill all residents of this planet. He never mentioned keeping any captive."
"So let's get to it!"
"Who do you think you are? I won't let you lay a hand on my family like this!" My father boomed. I could feel the vibrations of someone approaching and I shrank into a compact ball.
"We have our work cut out for us. This one's already dead."
"How dare you!" Father roared shortly before charging and impaling the soldier on his mighty horns. Needless to say, I was badly shaken up witnessing this.
Were the bad people gone? It was very silent and still, besides the distant noises of war around the site. I uncurled my body and timidly peeked out. The once white and powdery snow was splattered and specked in various colors of strange, possibly bodily, fluids. I soon found something I regret looking upon. My mother and father were cut up into pieces. I located my father's upper half and head, both were separated. His once glorious horns he prided himself on were broken and smeared in more fluids. His bio gem atop his head was shattered into fragments. I didn't look at anything more, instead I turned around and vomited. After a few seconds, I just fell to my knees and closed my eyes.
"Dear little sister! What happened here? Where's mom and dad?" I heard a sweet and sympathetic voice speak to me as I felt hands lifting me up. I was able to point to the horrific sight without looking at it. "Oh no! They got them...but at least you survived." A note of hope escaped the person's lips. She, while still holding me in her hands, fled into the void of trees at a high speed. I threw my hands up as the wind blew against me. My savior smiled down at me before returning her attention dead ahead.
"Well. Here we are. This is where I live. It isn't too appealing but rest assured, it's safe from those monsters. I wonder what our parents were going to name you. They never said anything to me other than, 'Eclipse, you're going to have a sibling soon.' Just sit tight and I'll make us some dinner." She rambled until leaving the room.
Over time, Eclipse and I grew up and bonded. Then one day IT happened.
"Auroras! Time for lunch! Get over here, kid sister!" Eclipse called me. I never liked the name she gave me but I dealt with it.
