Kayla POV

I stared at myself through the large mirror in the bathroom. The fear and uncertainty was easily visible on my face. I had dressed myself in a pair of plain blue jeans and a simple white tank top. I threw my hair up and applied a light layer of make-up. I didn't want to go all out just to have my appearance changed. I had been standing in front of the mirror for at least five minutes, staring hard at myself. I was having a moment of uncertainty, nervous about the upcoming events of the day.

"Suck it up, put on your big girl panties, and man the hell up," I told my reflection.

I rolled my eyes at myself and finally exited the bathroom. I could hear the sound of a hairdryer coming from Arissa's room and music coming from Loni and Michelle's room. The house was fully alive with everyone's preparations for the first day back to school.

I made my way down the stairs and slowly moved myself in the direction of the kitchen. I was trying to move as slowly as possible because I still hadn't got my emotions under control, and I didn't want Bryson to see me like that.

"Why are you zombie walking through the hall?" Loni asked as she slung her arm over my shoulders.

"I would say something witty, but I'm off my game today," I pouted.

"What's wrong?" She asked. She used the arm that was around my shoulders to stop my extremely slow walking.

"I'm just nervous, anything could go wrong today."

"Look, we got this." She smiled, "Between us four, super amazing girls, we will get it done."

"You forgot extremely good looking."

"Right," Loni laughed, "Us four, super amazing and extremely good looking girls."

I pulled Loni into a hug and thanked her. Even though my stomach was still in knots, and I was probably going to throw up before I made it to first period, I knew she was right. We were going to get our girls back.

"Go help Michelle get ready, tell her to meet me in the girls bathroom, on the second floor, at 8:30." I whispered in her ear.

I watched Loni walk away and I headed into the kitchen. Bryson was slightly bent over, with his face almost touching the microwave as he watched whatever was cooking. I tiptoed towards him, getting myself ready to jump on him, and hopefully scare the crap right out of him. I was a few steps away when he whipped around, causing me to scream, and scooped me up into his arms.

"I heard when you walked in the room," He laughed, "Wolf, remember?"

"Right, I totally didn't forget," I lied. I had totally forgot he could hear me.

"You ready for school?" he asked, me still wrapped up in his arms.

"Of course."

Bryson walked us over to the counter and sat me on top of it. He positioned himself between my legs, with one hand on each side of my hips, resting on the counter top. He leaned his head into the crook of my neck and placed a light kiss on my skin.

"I think we should go on a date tonight," He whispered in my ear.

My heart stopped beating, my breath caught in my throat, and the knots in my stomach tightened. I wouldn't be here tonight.

"I think that sounds absolutely amazing," I smiled. My insides twisting up even more. I felt like the absolute worst girlfriend in the history of girlfriends.

Bryson kissed the tip of my nose and went to retrieve his food from the microwave. I watched his every movement sadly. I found myself wishing I could sink into a dark hole and cry. I really wanted that date, we hadn't had a single one yet.
