Kayla POV
"Kayla Ann Jacobs! Get your slow butt down here! Five minutes till go time, and your food is cold," my dad yelled, from what sounded like the bottom of the stairs.
My room was on the second floor along with the spare room. My parent's room was downstairs, and that's exactly how I liked it. It was like my own little apartment and I loved it.
"I'm almost done, man dang!" I yelled back. My dad and I have more of a friendly relationship than parent and child, unless a boy was involved, then he was all big bad dad.
Today was a pep rally to get the school fired up for the big game tonight. Being that I am Co-Captain of the East High Firebird Cheer-leading team, I had to be in my uniform, and I had to put sparkles and matching make-up on, it takes time. I straightened out my red and black uniform and took one more look at myself. My long brown hair was pulled up into a high pony tail with red and black ribbons dangling from the hair tie. My eyes were vibrant with black eyeliner and red eye shadow, bright red lipstick donned my lips making my teeth look whiter and my tanned skin glow. I added some glitter around my eyes and a few more sparkly jewel stickers to the corners and smiled, perfect. I absolutely loved pep rallies, I got to go all Lady Gaga without people thinking I was insane. I grabbed my cheer shoes, shoved them in my bag and slipped on my red converse.
"Dammit girl, let's go!" my dad yelled when I had only made it half way down the stairs.
"Daddy!" I huffed scandalized. "Don't use such horrible words around your innocent daughter." I placed my hand over my heart and batted my eyelashes.
"Oh please. I have heard you say worse."
My dad put his hand on my back and pushed me towards the door while my mom handed me a cold pop tart and wished me a good day.
"Really dad?" I asked as we entered the car, "You couldn't even let me give mom a hug? We aren't even late yet. In fact, according to your clock we are one minute early." I was slightly annoyed that he was in such a hurry.
"It's a game day, we are never on time on game day and I have a lot to do today."
"Uh huh, what exactly do you have going on today dad?"
"Doctor stuff, with patients and stuff," He answered reluctantly. Hmmm dearest daddy is hiding something.
"Wow Dad, that's sounds legit," I said sarcastically. "Now why don't you go ahead and tell me the truth, because you trying to lie is pathetic."
I stared at him, while he stayed silent. I was about to demand the truth when he beat me to it.
"Oh look we're at school, get out."
"Daddy! How fast were you going?" I yelled. It was usually a ten minute drive and today it only took five. "And, if I didn't know how much you loved me I would be offended by you just kicking me out."
My dad took a deep breath and ran his hands down his face. I could tell he was really stressed and decided to let it go. He took another breath and began to talk when his beeper and phone went off at the same time.
"Ok, I'm going. Sorry for being a punk," I planted a kiss on my Dad's cheek and exited the car. "Love ya!" I yelled as I closed the door. He sped off like he'd just robbed a bank. Weirdo.
"Kay! Wait up, girl!" My best friend Sadie yelled as she ran to catch up with me.
Sadie was also on the Cheer team so she too was all dressed up. The only differences between our two outfits was that she had on black converse instead of red and her long blond hair was braided down her back.
