Bryson POV
I woke up with a head ache and my mouth felt like it was full of cotton balls. I had to blink my eyes a few times so that I could see straight. Once I cleared my vision I saw Kayla sleeping on my chest, my god she's beautiful.
"Ugh," Kayla groaned as she pushed herself off me. "I have a crick in my......well, everything."
"I bet," I laughed, "Next time we sleep together, how about we skip the couch."
"Good call," she said stretching her body out.
I was taking in the amazing view of my mate when I caught a glimpse of her shoulder. Marked? Oh, shit! I jumped and squirmed up the couch, with Kayla still on my legs. No no no! In my struggle to sit up I knocked Kayla onto the floor. When she hit the floor air rushed up to my face and I noticed that her scent had slightly changed, now not only did she smell like lilacs, but pine as well.
"Hey!" she yelled, "What the hell Bryson?"
"I....you....bad?" Yup, that was my brilliant response.
"Alright, let's try this again," She said from the floor, her arms crossed over her chest, "minus the brain fart please."
"Your neck," I finally managed to get out.
She reached her hand up to her neck and immediately touched the mark. I couldn't help but feel a huge sense of pride swell up inside me, but that was quickly squashed by fear of her reaction.
Her hand went quickly from her neck to her mouth.
"Oh!" She said jumping up, "You..." she pointed to me, "and then I...." she pointed to herself, "and then....Oh!"
I watched as she paced around the room. I took it she remembered what happened and I was hoping she would fill me in because my mind was still fuzzy. I wanted to shoot a 'brain fart' comment back at her, but my better judgment told me not to.
"Oh, wow." She said, for about the fifth time.
"Kay, please fill me in," I begged.
"You don't remember?" she shouted.
I prayed to any god I could think of to give me back my memory, pissed off Kayla was scary.
"Bryson, you better rack your brain for a memory," she said calmly, scaring me more.
"It was the pain meds, they messed with my memory," I said cautiously.
"Oh, you mean the same medication I took?" she asked sweetly. "Turns out I won't accept that answer. Do you want to know why Bryson?"
I slowly nodded my head in response, not wanting to make anything worse by speaking.
"Because I remember! I took the same thing, I have no wolf inside me, and I remember!" she was back to yelling.
"Babe, I'm so..." I started to say but she cut me off.
"I swear if you say sorry I will stab you in the eye with a fork." She hissed.
I shut my mouth and just stared at her. I didn't know what else to do, I couldn't find the memory.
"I'm going to shower and eat, I don't want to see you until you remember."
"Kayla, you can't be serious," I practically begged.
"Oh, I assure you, I am very serious."
With that she turned around and stormed out of the room. Aww crap! I couldn't even chase after her because I was stuck to a needle. Damn it!
I slipped my phone out of my pocket and dialed Zane.
