Bryson POV

After almost two months of no school, coming back was really hard, and it was only the first day. Not to mention that I had been so busy with the principal, setting up new border patrols, that I hadn't seen Kayla since we got to school.

It was finally lunch, and I was eagerly rushing to the Cafeteria. I would finally be able to see Kayla, my wolf and I were greatly anticipating it. As I went through the halls I nodded my head to all the greetings I had gotten from other wolves in my pack. It had been like that ever since I had got to school, everyone wanted to talk to me, and I really think every single wolf had tried.

I side stepped as many people as I could when I walked into the cafeteria. I spotted Zane immediately and hurried over to him.

"Act as if we're speaking about something important," I rushed out. I whipped my head around hoping that speaking with Zane would stop the assault of admirers.

"Why?" he asked.

"They won't leave me alone."

Zane laughed at my inconvenience and pulled us towards the lunch line; both our eyes kept darting toward the cafeteria door. I knew Zane was hoping to see Arissa walk in because I was hoping the same thing with Kayla.

We had made it through the line and to a table, still with no sign of our mates. I called out to Kayla through our link and winced when I felt my mind hit the blank wall of her mind block.

"Kayla is blocking me out," I told Bryson, "try Arissa."

"I already did when we first got here, I hit a block too," he replied immediately.

I tried to rationalize a reason for the dual block in my own head, maybe they were having girl talk. They did that a lot lately, it was really annoying. In fact, all four of the girls had been acting quite shady lately, always whispering and sharing weird looks. They would disappear without a word and then pop up out of nowhere with creepy smiles. Not to mention the singing, she was always singing in her head. I didn't know if she was trying to hint at going to a concert, or just trying to drive me insane. I had a feeling that Arissa was doing the same thing to Zane because he was humming an N'SYNC song a few days ago.

"They're up to something," I told Zane.

"Well, we all have Science next, so we will get it out of them then," He shrugged.

Even though my body was tense, and all I wanted to do was hunt the two down that very second, I held it in and put on a calm façade. I couldn't be ripping through the school like a maniac searching for them, people would think I had gone nuts. So, against my nature, I held in my crazy.

The girls weren't in Science, the girls didn't meet us at the car after school, and the girls didn't come home that night or the next morning. Needless to say; I was pissed off, worried as hell, and exhausted. I hadn't slept one minute because I was constantly trying to get through to Kayla. I was mostly pissed at myself for not searching for them when I wanted to and worried for her safety.

I had called in the packs that had agreed to help us, and asked them to keep an eye out for the girls while they were traveling. I was planning on heading to Oakridge the second they got here. I had a team of 15 wolves, including Zane and I, out combing the woods for the girls. I had another team of 10 wolves out searching the town and surrounding areas. So far, a day and a half later, we hadn't found them.

Zane and I had tried every hour to connect with them, only to hit the block every time. The only thing that comforted me was the fact that they had a block up, meaning they weren't dead. Once a mate dies you don't hit their block, your mind link just seems to float away, so at least I had that damn block.
