Night of Junior Prom

I sat on my bed, watching Cat put on her makeup. She looked absolutely gorgeous. Her hair curled to perfection. Her makeup simple but amazing. And her dress was absolutely stunning on her.

It was one of those two piece dresses but with a body like her's, she can pull it off like no one that I have ever met. The skirt was a turquoise color with a slit going up  to her mid thigh and the top was all jewels. The top, in my opinion, was a little too showy but it's not my dress and not my choice to wear.

Personally I think it's a little over the top for a junior prom but it's her night not mine.

"And I'm done!" Cat squealed standing up.

"You look gorgeous, Cat," I smiled at her.

"I couldn't have a better best friend!" She squealed again giving me a big hug.

I smiled as I heard a knock at the door.

"Girls," Katherine poked her head in, "Jack is here."

Now it was my turn to squeal as I ran out of my room and down the stairs.

"Jack!" I jumped right into his arms.

"Hey babe!" He hugged back.

I haven't seen him in person in like a month and I missed him so much.

He pulled away from the hug, "Looking as beautiful as ever."

I looked at my feet blushing. He's the sweetest thing ever.

"Hi Mrs. Michaels how are you?" I asked Cat's mom.

"I'm doing well thank you. Also thank you for giving up your boyfriend for the night. It really means a lot to Catherine."

"It's not problem. It was my idea. I didn't want her to feel left out."

"Won't you feel left out not being able to go?"

"Oh of coarse not! I've never liked school dances."

Suddenly, we heard heals clicking down the stairs and all of our gazes went towards Cat. She walked down the stairs with grace making sure she wouldn't trip and fall.

"Wow," Jack breathed, walking over to her.

I felt insecure. How can I compete with what she's wearing? I mean she's gorgeous.

Wait. What am I talking about? He's already my boyfriend. I got to get this out of my head.

"Let's take some pictures outside!" Mrs. Johnson squealed.

As we filled out to the front yard, Cat took a hold of Jack's hand. Jealousy fired within my veins.

Calm down. It's only for tonight.

"Lyssa, dear, are you alright?" Katherine asked me. "You're looking a bit red."

I shook my head trying to get these thoughts out of my mind.
