My eyes flickered open and I still had no problem remembering what has happened.

Two months. It's been two whole months since I've last seen my sister.

When my father and a few others went out to fix the electricity, they couldn't find anything wrong, just that something had snipped a wire in half.

We had begun eating normal foods the next day, and I appreciated it greatly.

I rolled out of my bed and quickly made it up, fluffing my pillows and setting them up.

Then, I threw on a pair of my tracksuit Adidas pants, and a long sleeved t-shirt. I just threw my hair into a bun since I would probably take a shower later.

I arrived in the cafeteria early so that I could help Ferra prepare our usual breakfast.

"Carter!" Liam said.

"Hey Liam!" I replied. Over the time, I had made friends with Liam. I let him borrow my Hunger Games books and he finished them all in a week. That was the thing about being down here, time went by slow, and if you found something to do it didn't last long.

"Hello Carter!" Ferra greeted me.

"Hey! What can I help with today?" It may seem dumb, but I've been helping Ferra prepare meals. Mali-Koa helps sometimes, and so does her mother and my mother, but there isn't that many of us so we don't need that much help.

"I found a huge box of those Pop-Tarts all you children like. Can you bring it upstairs and open it?"

"Sure Ferra."

I walked out of the kitchen into the small stairway down to the storage rooms.

I opened the first door on the left, hoping that it was the right room. There were boxes everywhere. Some where labeled while some weren't, so I decided to start with the ones labeled.

Potatoes, canned items, water, powdered milk, condiments, and much more. But no Pop-Tarts.

Sighing, I moved on to the next small room.

I scanned the brown boxes for the words I was desperately searching for.

I hadn't eaten one of these things in three months! I need to find them.

I continued looking for the correct box, reading every single one that was labeled.

Finally, I looked up, and there was the box.

Yesss! I mentally yelled.

When I got the box upstairs, Liam was excited.

"I wonder what flavor? I'll eat whatever there is!"

"I don't know Liam. Don't get your hopes up for a good flavor." Ferra replied.

I brought the long knife along the edges of the tape, slicing the tape holding the top together; and tore the box open.

There were probably twenty small boxes of various Pop-Tart flavors.

"Liam!!" I yelled, smile plastered across my face.

"Do they have cinnamon and brown sugar?" Ferra asked, finally giving in to the excitement.

I pulled out a blue box and set it on the counter. Cinnamon and brown sugar. Liam found his favorite flavor too and tore open the package.

"Liam!" Ferra scolded.

He apologized and pushed the half torn open pack to the back of the counter.

I laughed under my breath and he quickly caught on, giving me a small smile.

At breakfast, the simple fact that we had found such a typical breakfast food seemed to lighten everyone's moods. There was chatter in the cafeteria, people were smiling.

"Wow. I missed these things!" Alyssa said, admiring her strawberry pastry.

"Me too!" Calum said, mumbling a long 'mhhhmmmm.'

Kyle picked around his blueberry flavored one.

I wanted to ask him what was wrong. But I knew the answer. He was still upset over our fight and had been pretty out of it for a while now. He spoke in short sentences and only came out of his room to eat and use the restroom.

Excluding Kyle, the majority of us really appreciated the simple toaster pastries. I think it gives everyone a sense of normalcy for once.
