Chapter 37

Liam comes running down the tunnels. "Parker! Lydia! Scott! Malia!"

"Liam!" I shriek when he runs straight past my friends and pulls me into a bone-crushing hug. "Oh, good. I didn't lose you. Thank God.." I hug him tightly back.

"I'm right here, mom."  Liam says in a slightly shaky voice as he grips me tight. "Everyone else is gone."

"Gone?" Scott echoes.

Liam finally lets go of me, and looks at Scott with a nod. "All of them—they're all gone. Look, you have to come with me."

"What is it?" Scott asks.

Liam shakes his head. "I can't explain it. I have to show you."

"Uh...All right. You guys stay here. Just in case." Scott says to us. "If there's any hope of getting Stiles back, you need to keep trying."

Liam looks back at me once more before going over to his Alpha. "We'll be back. I'll stay in contact with you the entire time, Parker. You won't lose me."

I watch as the two of them run back down the hall together, then disappear out of sight completely.

"What are you doing?" Malia says to Lydia as she starts to walk away.

Lydia looks back at us. "We're gonna go find Stiles."

"Scott told us to stay in case he shows up here." She replies.

"Stiles isn't coming here. If he was, he would've, and he hasn't, so he's not." Lydia looks at me. "You still think it worked, right?""

"I know I saw him." I nod.

"That's good enough for me now. Let's go." She gestures us forward.

"But right now?" Malia asks.

Lydia nods. "Right now. I know Parker's not wrong. She's never wrong about him. Stiles is out there."

"This looks fresh." Lydia notes as she looks at the tread marks made by the Jeep.

"It's from Stiles' Jeep. It must have just left." Malia replies.

"Without his keys?" Lydia stands and looks at her.

"Half the time, he got it started with a screwdriver." I say with a smile, looking at Lydia. "He's here. We have to tell Scott."

"Yeah..We should probably tell Scott about that, too." My cousin points up ahead, and we walk past the stone school sign to see giant train tracks leading into the school.

We follow the tracks until we get to the set of doors to the library, and open them.

"Why is there a train station in the middle of the library?" Malia asks as we step inside, looking around at all the unresponsive people.
