The world around them had dimmed to grayscale—sky swallowed by ink, ocean churning in pewter sighs, firelight far behind them now just a dying ember clinging to a shore they no longer belonged to. And in this solemn, silver-soaked void stood Jimin, the boy made of tides and twilight.

He had slid off Taehyung's back with a weightless laugh, barefoot heels sinking gently into the wet sand. The sea touched his ankles like it remembered him. And in that moment, with salt on his lips and wind whispering secrets into his honey-soft hair, he became the moon's chosen mirror. His skin—dewed with ocean spray—gleamed like a polished pearl cupped in the earth's palm. Moonlight dripped over him, slow and deliberate, like a blessing cast from heaven to sea, and the sea, helplessly in love, held him still not to shatter the illusion.

Taehyung forgot how to breathe.

He stood a few paces away, body half-turned to leave, half-turned to orbit. Every rational signal in his head was retreating. Get back. Stay away. Be invisible. Yet his gaze refused to obey—dragged helplessly, thirstily, toward the boy who stood like a secret worth unraveling beneath the breath of the cosmos.

It wasn't friendship. It wasn't love. It wasn't lust.

It wasn't hatred either.

It was something far more dangerous.

It was temptation in its purest, most merciless form—the kind that doesn't scream, but whispers. And Taehyung, raised in shadows and suspicion, trained to outrun both bullets and betrayals, felt the first shiver of surrender.

Jimin was water. Not the kind that quenched, but the kind that drowned.
And Taehyung—despite everything—was dying for a dive.

He didn't step forward. He didn't speak. But his eyes—those guarded, storm-ridden eyes—followed the gleam along Jimin's cheekbone, the curve of his throat, the ripple of his reflection as moonlight traced the valleys of his chest beneath the thin cotton of his shirt.

And Jimin, either oblivious or deliberately cruel, turned slightly toward him. Just enough. Just in time for the light to catch in his eyes—two twin moons caught in amber—and smile.

"Are you gonna keep looking at me like that," he said softly, "or are you gonna say something?"

The tide rose.

Taehyung's breath caught. He wanted to tell him he looked unholy. He wanted to beg him not to shine like that—not when there were people watching. Not when the sky was watching. Not when someone like him, someone like Taehyung, was already neck-deep in sins that couldn't be confessed.

He couldn't speak. He didn't dare.

But if Jimin noticed the storm in his silence, he didn't say. He only smiled again—slower this time, soft as the lull before drowning—and stepped back into the water.

The sea swallowed him whole. And Taehyung, in silence, followed.

The waves rolled in slow, like a secret shared between gods. The shore shimmered with a pearlescent hush, and their footprints melted behind them as they walked—side by side, close enough to hear the rhythm of each other's breath. Not close enough to touch.

Jimin was the first to speak. His voice barely disturbed the night.

"You know the ocean covers more than seventy percent of the earth..." he tilted his head, eyes following the tide like he belonged to it, "and yet it's still considered mostly undiscovered. Isn't that strange?"
