Chapter Thirty Six
Amanda’s P.O.V
Halfway through the school day, Bekah had told me that she wanted to hang out afterwards. I was almost suspicious. There was something up with her. She usually waited until weekends to hang out. But I wasn’t complaining all too much. I had things to tell her that I didn’t want to talk about at school with so many people that could hear the wrong thing and start a rumor. Especially because it’s about Dylan and I. Dylan was pretty well known, and some rumors had started just because I was talking to him in the past.
So I was in her car, on our way to the mall, and she was singing loudly to the radio. I joined in with songs that I knew, but there weren’t many I wanted to sing along with. I wasn’t a huge fan of the new pop. There was tons of swearing, sexual links, drug and alcohol links, it just wasn’t my style. Bekah didn’t have a huge problem with it, considering she was singing to it, but I heard her complaining about it too.
“So, my best friend. I have a few things to tell you. Also, considering that I know you were with Dylan for a long time…” She trailed off and wiggled her eye brows at me before continuing, as well as looking back at the road, “I know you have things to tell me. But, we can wait until we get inside the mall. Anything you want to get in particular?”
“No, I was just here.” I told her, laughing.
“Oh, really?! You could have said that. We could have gone to my house or something. Do you want to do that? I mean, we can! I can pull a U-ey and everything” she exclaimed, surprised.
“No, it’s okay.” I laughed at her antics. She really was my weird best friend. Though I wouldn’t settle for anything less. “Besides, ‘U-ies’ are illegal, missy.”
She scoffed and grinned at me, taking her eyes off the road for a second to look at me. “Only if there’s a no U-turn sign.”
I shook my head, smiling. “I’m surprised you haven’t gotten into a car accident yet.”
She gasped, slapping me in the arm.
“Ow!”
“No jinxing me! I don’t need your bad luck with cars!” she screamed at me in her high pitched voice, then laughed.
“Hey! That was not my fault!” I said, laughing with her.
“Sure it wasn’t.”
I groaned while laughing. She would never let it go. I still had the scars to remind me what happened in that car accident, but I was glad it happened. Without it, I probably wouldn’t have gotten as close to Dylan. That didn’t mean I didn’t think I was stupid to get into that situation and to have what happened to me, happen.
She finally pulled into the mall parking lot, and fit her small car into a parking space, complaining all the while about how badly someone parked that she saw as she was looking for a space. She had major road-rage when she drove. I had no idea where she got it from. Her mom wasn’t like that, her dad either.
Walking inside in the same entrance Dylan and I went in reminded me of our date. It also reminded me of what my mom put me through the night before. I groaned just thinking about it.
“What’s got you groaning?”
“Just what happened over the weekend. Did I tell you anything about it yet?” I asked, looking at all the stores we were passing to see if there was anything I wanted to buy.
“No, spill, girl.”
“Well, it started off with a confrontation with my dad and Nate…” I trailed off, knowing she would have something to say about that. She always did.
