Chapter Five
Amanda’s P.O.V
“Oh my god! What happened?!” I jumped up when I saw my parents walking towards the table I was sitting at. I was at Maya’s. My mom had texted me when I was home and told me to come here. She said it was a back up plan, and that they weren’t happy. I just thought I had some how gotten a bad grade. But now…?
They were covered in something that looked brown and sticky, and somewhat like my favorite soda. I could only stand there with my mouth open. They…what happened?! But, my mom was right in the text. Dad looked like he could kick a puppy and not feel anything about it.
“Stupid teenagers.” My dad grumbled as he sat down. My mom sat next to him, but I could only stand there, staring.
“What…happened?” I asked carefully.
“We were going to get pizza for you for once…but, I think it was a sign. Four rowdy…drunken boys came up to the counter and started going insane! That’s how this happened.” my mom gestured down to her messy shirt. “One of them, had dumped your soda on his head, and it splashed all over us.”
“Don’t even get me started on the taller one.” my dad said, scowling. But, since I knew him better, he would tell us anyway. “Gosh, I think he was the most drunk. He just dumped another soda on the front of his shirt then took it off and threw it at your mother! Is that how teenagers really are?!”
I knew it was a rhetorical question, so I didn’t answer. I just finally sat down, and stared at the table cloth. I just shook my head, almost ashamed. I most likely went to school with those four boys. I had no idea who they were, but…this was not good. Not good at all.
“Um, how about we just order your favorites to make up for it? I’ll even pay half with the money I saved from last month when I had that job…” I offered.
My mom smiled at me sadly. “It’s okay, sweetheart. But thank you for trying.”
I just nodded again, and we sat there in awkward silence until the server came by us and took our order. We already had the menu memorized by heart, so it’s not like we had to look at it. But none of the servers ever noticed. Only Maya when she was actually going around and serving people knew what people’s normal orders were.
Then, I heard, “Dylan! What do you think you’re doing?! I will tell your mother!” It was unmistakably Maya. Her voice was just too hard to miss.
I looked up, and saw Dylan, stumbling into the dining area. He looked…drunk. Hopelessly, and completely…drunk. I stood up quickly with disgust.
“Oh no! They’ve followed us!” my mom cried.
They…? Oh no. Dylan! What did you do?! I could only stand there, shocked, as he and his friends stumbled into table after table, Maya yelling at him from behind to stop. Dylan, I noticed, was shirtless. So he was the one that threw his shirt at my mom.
In his drunken stupor, he must not have seen me, because he walked-or should I say stumbled-over to our table. My parents were staring with wide eyes and Dylan walked up with a weird and dare it say it- scary grin on his face. Right then, I was actually scared of him.
“You do know you have my shirt right? Perhaps to remember me by?” he asked my mom, his words slurring.
I couldn’t help it. I exploded. “Dylan!” I screamed.
He turned to me, surprised. He stopped being slouched over. He straightened completely, and his face went serious. What…? He was just overly drunk…wasn’t he?
