Chapter Four
Dylan’s P.O.V
“Dylan! So glad you could come, man! I actually thought that you’d have to back out last minute because your mom would make you watch Brian.” Henry called to me as I was climbing into his truck. Sam and Ethan greeted me as well.
“Eh, she’s allowing me to go out more because she thinks I’m getting a better attitude. Stupid woman.” I said, shaking my head. My mom really was getting too soft for my liking.
“Oh, well, I don’t know why she would think that. It’s kind of weird. But anyway, you ready to stuff your face with pizza?” Ethan said, turning around in the front passenger seat happily.
“You know it! Pizza here I come!” I yelled, pumping my fists in the air.
“That’s the spirit. Are you also ready to cause some havoc at said pizza place?” Henry asked now.
“Oh yeah. It’s been a while. It’s going to feel good to get out of my polite mask for once.”
“You know you don’t have to act right? People already expect the worst from you. I think even your mother does.” Sam said quietly.
“I know, but it’s always fun surprising people.” I told him, with a huge grin on my face. “Because I can handle being polite, I just don’t like to.”
He smiled back at me. “Yeah, I know how that is. But with me, I have a hard time cracking out of my shell.” he blushed a little bit.
I knew what he was thinking. That maybe he didn’t want to. Because the better of a person he was, the more Amanda would like him. I just gave him a knowing smile.
“Yeah, well, maybe that isn’t such a bad thing. No one really has to be bad. Besides, we always need look outs for managers.”
He grinned and let out a small chuckle. “You can always count on me to do that.”
“And that, is why we haven’t pressured you!” Henry called from the driver’s seat. I could see the grin on his face from the back seat.
Sam just rolled his eyes. I was thinking the same thing. Yeah, right. They’ve pressured him. And so have I, but I’m going to stop, because I actually want him to get with Amanda. As twisted a picture as that would be. But they would be good for each other. Both quiet nerds.
My thoughts were cut off as Ethan and Henry began randomly shouting out words to a rap song. I couldn’t help but laugh. Neither could Sam. They always did such random things when they were together. When we were all together, it was never a boring day.
At the pizza place, we were all sitting at a round booth, wondering what we were going to do.
“Pretend to try to rob the place, but fail at it and just make people laugh?” Ethan asked, smashing a paper ball that he made out of one of those paper straw things.
“No, we’ve already done that with water guns at that coffee shop down town, demanding muffins.” Sam said, drawing words in a graffiti design on the paper mat underneath his plate with a pen. But the plate was moved so he could draw more freely.
“Start burping randomly and blame it on a reaction to a certain kind of pop?” Henry asked, sounding bored.
We all glanced at the sodas that were sitting on the table. But the thing is, they weren’t soda. They were lemonades. We all shook our heads simultaneously. That, was a bad plan. It wouldn’t have even worked. How were we running low on ideas? This isn’t like us.
“I got it! Look at that couple at the counter. Let’s pretend we’re drunk and spill our drinks on them and mess with the people working here!” Ethan said, bolting up right, the paper ball forgotten.
