Chapter Thirty Eight
Amanda’s P.O.V
I woke up to my alarm clock, thinking it was too early to be awake. Tutoring Dylan always wiped me out. I would have to relearn things to teach him in the way that he would understand. By the time I was done each night it would almost be ten and I would be exhausted. But by then Dylan would just be sore and ready to have fun and do more exciting things. He never ran out of energy I think. He just kept going like the energizer bunny. I didn’t mind, but it was just exhausting.
Sitting up, I sighed. I wasn’t ready to start the new day. The only good part about my days involved seeing Bekah and Dylan. Just going to class and listening to my teachers would never amount to how much I love to see my friends. It’s the only reason I can handle school. I think that’s the reason anyone can stand school now that I think about it. I mean really, there has to be only a few select people in the whole world that actually enjoy going to school just to do work and listen to lectures.
As I was about to get up to go take a shower to get ready for the day ahead of me, I heard a knock at my door. I got up to open my door and found my dad standing there with a cup of coffee in his hands that was freshly brewed. His thinning hair was sticking out in all direction. It was obvious he had just woken up. He was even still in a plain white t-shirt and sweatpants that he slept in.
“Morning daddy.”
“Morning kiddo. How about you and me go see about getting you a new car after you get home from school tonight?” He said, smiling at me.
“That sounds great. I have no idea what car to get though. I had really loved my last one, but I want a different one now. Considering that car was more custom, I would want to try something new. I don’t think I would want an SUV type though. What do you think about it?”
“Well, SUVs are definitely safer…”
“I know…” I also knew instantly that he was thinking about my accident. I knew that now he would want to get me an SUV so that I would be safer and if I were to get into another accident that I wouldn’t end up the way I did before. I was hurt that badly because of how small and compact my car was. I had a sportier car which didn’t really mean safety.
“Well, whatever you decide on will be great.” He said now, lightening the mood with a smile.
“Maybe I’ll ask Bekah and Dylan for their opinions. I’m sure they’ll have some sort of input. They always seem to have something to say about the things in my life.”
“That Dylan…he’s not that bad of a guy you know. I know your mother is more skeptical about him, and I was too at some point, but he really isn’t that bad of a guy.”
I grinned, “I’m glad you think so Daddy.”
He kissed the top of my head before leaving my doorway. Once he was gone, I went to my closet to pick out my outfit for the day and to get into the shower.
After I had picked out a pair of light blue jeans with a pain V-neck white shirt with a long brown knit cardigan, I went to my bathroom to take a shower. It was a fairly big bathroom with a big mirror over the vanity sinks and lights in the ceiling. I turned on the shower and waited a few seconds for it to get warm enough before I got in. I washed my hair thoroughly and scrubbed my body with sweet pea scented soap before getting out. I decided that I could skip shaving my legs since I was going to be just wearing jeans.
