Chapter Twenty Five

Dylan’s P.O.V

Uncomfortable once more. For one, I couldn’t forget what I had said about Amanda in class. That, was bad. I had to try hard to downplay how I felt about her. It was hard, but I did it nonetheless. I just chose more of the bad things about her house and commented on them. I told the class I thought she was pretty, which was a lie. I thought she was more than pretty. She was beautiful. Even without make up. She was just a girl with natural beauty. Some that a lot don’t have. Two, I was sitting on my couch, Amanda and Bekah on one side, and Brian on the other.

Yeah, we had to switch it to my house last minute because my mom left Brian for me to watch. Luke was at a friends house, and I was the only one who could tweak my plans the smallest bit. So, we were all on my couch. Brian was gazing at Amanda and Bekah like they were aliens.

“Dylan! I’m bored!” Brian cried, slipping off the couch and flopping onto his back, pouting up at all three of us.

“Suck it up, brat.” I snapped.

“Dylan!” Amanda snapped at me now. She’s been doing it every time I yell at Brian. She kept telling me that I was the reason he acted out because he watched me do it all the time.

I tried to squish myself into the couch and make myself invisible. I don’t think it was working, because Amanda was still glaring at me.

“Is this what always happens?” Bekah asked, cutting the tension in half.

“No.” Amanda and I said at the same time.

“Usually we sit in his room and I tutor him and come out occasionally for food. Though, today is different because of Brian.” Amanda said, flipping a page in the book she was reading. Even though her best friend, and I were sitting next to her, she was still reading. I was ready to throw it across the room.

“Well, can we go in his room with Brian?” Bekah asked, sounding bored.

“Why?” I asked moodily. Having her and Brian with me was not something I wanted.

“Well, I want to see your room, and it’s kind of weird just sitting in your living room.” Bekah commented, her tone of voice making me seem like I was dumb for not realizing it.

I rolled my eyes. “Whatever. Brian, come on. Don’t touch anything!” I stood up off the couch and was almost glad that Brian nodded before following at my side to my room. The two girls were following behind and whispering about one thing or another. I couldn’t hear, and I couldn’t care less.

When I got to my room, I just collapsed onto my bed face first and grumbled when Brian jumped on me. He was laughing and bouncing up and down on my back. Almost like what Amanda did one Saturday morning, but I bucked her off because I was surprised.

“Wow. Typical guy room. Messy too. Even more typical.” I heard Bekah say.

“Yeah, that’s exactly what I thought when I first saw it. The clothes on the floor are very hazardous so beware. I don’t know how many times I’ve tripped over them.” Amanda commented. I felt my bed dip down by my feet and figured it was Amanda since I heard movement somewhere else in my room.

“Whoa! You know Switchfoot?! They are really good! Can I play it?” Bekah asked from somewhere on my right. I just grunted in approval.

I couldn’t care less about what she played or didn’t play. She could play some girly CD for all I cared. I was tired and I didn’t want her to be there. I wanted just to talk to Amanda without being interrupted or knowing I was being watched.
