Chapter Twenty Four

Amanda’s P.O.V

I walked into school, My best friend at my side. It was easy to say she must have put extra sugar in her cereal this morning. She was really hyper, and really talkative. Well, she is normally too, but it was just over the top. She was talking animatedly about how she woke up to hear a chicken that morning when there was no chicken. I’m not quite sure what was up with her.

“So, did you get woken up by your alarm clock this morning?” She asked, her reddish-brown hair bouncing as she skipped at my side.

“Yes, I did. I happen to be semi-normal. Unlike you, who imagined being woken up by a non-existent rooster.” I told her. I was highly amused, and giggling just a bit at her antics.

“No! It was a chicken! But anyway, waking up habits aside, can I come over tonight? I wanted to know if you can help me with my science. Please?” she gave me her best begging face.

I laughed. “Yes, you can come over tonight. I’m not sure how much Dylan will like that, but you can come over nonetheless. He will just have to get over it.”

She grinned. “Yes! I’m finally going to get a pass to sit in on one of your tutor things.”

“Wait, do you actually need help or do you just want to see what Dylan and I do when I tutor him?” I asked her knowingly. Of course, I should have figured she’s be curious as to what we do. Though, she doesn’t know we actually tutor. Though, Dylan may complain forty percent of the time, and we get a snack about every half hour, but I still tutor him.

“Both?” she asked carefully.

I laughed while turning the lock on my locker to the three numbers and unlocking my locker. Once it was open all the way, I put my back pack in and got out my books. “You can still come, though don’t expect anything romantic.” I told her sternly.

She grinned. “I wouldn’t ever.” though there was a glint in her eye telling me just the opposite. She really hoped that Dylan and I were secretly a couple and would make-out every night or do other things that I would never approve of.

“Well, just keep dreaming.” I grinned at her disappointed face.

“Oh, I just might do that.” she replied happily. I shot her a look before walking down the hall. Though, I had just noticed Dylan at his locker when she shouted, “Dylan! I’m joining you guys tonight!” she skipped up to him, and he shot me an annoyed look.

“Oh really? What if I don’t want you there?” He grumbled moodily.

“Well too bad. Anda already agreed!” she stuck her tongue out at him.

Dylan looked at me. “Is it too late to say you’re coming to my house?”

I nodded while laughing. “Yeah, just a bit. It’ll be okay though. All she’s going to do probably is watch us. That won’t be so bad.”

He shrugged. He looked a little drawn back today. His dark brown hair was messy today more than normal, and his cheeks were pale.

“Are you okay?” I asked him, stepping closer to the locker next to his and leaning against it. I looked up into his eyes and saw curiosity there.

“Yes? Why are you suddenly asking?”

“You seem more drawn back and grumpy today. Did your mom make you watch Brian again this morning? I mean, she seems perfectly nice to me.” I grinned up at him.

He finally cracked a smile. “No. Just stressed I guess. Sam called me last night, and what he said just kind of stuck with me. Did you really talk to him?” he looked at me with one eye brow cocked. Now, there was amusement in his eyes.
