Chapter Thirty One

Dylan’s P.O.V

I got out of my car, and walked up to Bekah. She was waiting at the park that was somewhat between Amanda’s house and mine. I had called her and asked to meet up. I was glad that Amanda got out of the hospital yesterday, and I wanted to hang with her. But, I didn’t know how to ask her straight up. I thought it would sound too much like I was asking her on a date or something. Which, I wouldn’t deny if she asked if it was a date.

“Dylan. Care to explain why you called me now?” Bekah asked, tapping her foot, her arms crossed. It was needless to say she looked pissed. But then again, it wasn’t everyday that she got a call from me asking to meet her at a park.

“Well, I would have just asked Amanda, but I didn’t know how. I want her to come to another party. You’re invited as well. I mean, it’s almost like celebrating her getting out of the hospital. Besides, didn’t I overhear one time that you still  have to go to a party with her? Now’s your chance. Not to mention this will be the last time I let loose before she hounds me with tutoring more than before.” I explained all at once. Once I was done saying it, I thought about how stupid I sounded.

Bekah stayed silent. Though I knew from her change in posture that she was seriously thinking about it. She had uncrossed her arms, and the scowl was now a small thoughtful smile. “That might actually be fun. She needs to let loose. Hell, so do I. I haven’t been to a party in a few years. Yeah, I’ll talk to her. But, you’re coming with.” she now had an evil grin on her lips.

I was taken off guard. “Why do I have to come with? Can’t you just talk to her and we’ll meet up at the party?” I was suspicious. There was no way I couldn’t be suspicious.

She laughed. “Don’t question. Just follow. Those are my instructions. Though my instruction for you now: drive. I’ll meet you at Amanda’s house.” she pat my shoulder- she had to reach up a bit, but she managed- and walked to her own car. She gave me a wide smile before getting in and starting it.

I walked to my car and got in the front seat. What the hell have I just done?, I asked myself, Note to self: never go to her again. I sighed and started up my car, the deep grumble of it's engine welcoming. I shifted it into drive and eventually found myself following Bekah’s car.

I couldn’t stop my thoughts from wandering to the memory of the last party I took Amanda to. We had almost kissed, I almost got into a fight with Sam, she got to be in a place where Finn was at a few times in the past, and she got to meet her brother’s friend. It was a good day, and I wouldn’t take it back for anything in the world.

But, there was a part of me that wished it could change. I wish Sam hadn’t walked in, and I wish that we could have kissed. If we had, she probably would be my girlfriend by now. Well, she probably could be, but I just couldn’t ask her now. It wasn’t the right time. So maybe Sam walking in was a sign. A sign that we weren’t ready. But the question is, when will we be?

Leaving my thoughts, I found myself unconsciously pulling into Amanda’s driveway behind Bekah’s car. It had just become routine by now that I hadn’t even though of the actions that I needed to do to find her house, or to look for the driveway.

I parked and got out, the tiny excited girl practically skipped over to me. She jabbed a finger into my chest. “Okay. My instructions are once again, don’t question, just follow. Meaning, follow my lead. She’s going to want to get out of going to this party. But don’t let her. Got it?” Bekah said, her voice happy, her eyes shining.

“Yeah, I got it the first time you said it. But I can’t help but be suspicious of your actions.” I told her in a low voice.

She just waved a small hand through the air before bounding to Amanda’s front door and just walking right in. Though, we weren’t lucky enough to come at a time when her parents weren’t at home. Well, I should say parent. It was just her mom sitting in the living room we had to walk through to get to Amanda’s room.
