A Dare

Maya's POV

I can't fall asleep. I think to myself. Here I am, laying in bed, times past 1am, just thinking and thinking about Josh. Why is all this guy stuff confusing?

I went to the fridge and got some milk and drank it straight from the carton. Rebel, I know.

I hear front door open and close behind me and turned around and saw it was Josh. He jumped face first on the couch. It was dark in here and the only light was the refrigerator light. I put the milk away and went up to him. "Josh?" I ask
"Mmmm?" He says into the pillow.
"What's happened? Where were you?" He looks up at me and pulls me down to sit on the sofa. He reeks of beer. Like my dad did. "H-hey Mayaaaaaaa" he giggles. He was so cute.
"What's up?" I put my hand on his cheek. Fully concerned.
"I.. I like you"
I stood up. "What?!! No! No. No NO no no no you can't say that. No you can't." I turn around to walk out when he stands up and grabs my hand, turns me around and smacks his lips to mine. It's, as cliché as it sounds, the perfect kiss. He puts his arm around my waist and pulls me in more, as I wrap my hand around his neck. I then realise what I'm actually doing and mentally slap myself across the face and pull back. I stand there, hold back tears, staring at him trying to figure him out.
"C'mon, Maya what's the problem?"
"Y-you don't know what you're saying.. You don't like me, you can't. Me and Riles, we're like family so in a way, were sorta related too-"
"Maya," he stops me "I do know what I'm doing"
"Josh, stop we can't do this." I mutter, confused and run back to Rileys room.

Josh's POV

I acted way more drunk than I actually was, I had to get her to think I like her and I think she bought it. I head to my bed and kick off my shoes and jump face first on the bed. Not you're greatest idea Josh, I say as I curse at the pain I just increased to my head.

*** the next morning ***

Maya's POV

I hardly got any sleep last night and I've got a huge headache. Great way to start a Tuesday morning. I put on a crop top that went up to my belly button, as it was quite baggy. And put on some joggers. I put my hair in a messy bun because I literally could not be bothered. I walked to the bathroom, rubbing my eye trying to wake myself up, when I bumped into something. Someone.

Josh's POV

GREAT. AMAZING. I'm here in my towel and I just had to bump into Maya. Out of all the people in the house. MAYA. This is so awkward. I couldn't move. Oh my god, de ja vu. We just stared at each others, very wide opened, eyes but I see that she was hurt aswell. "Um," I clear my throat, "you ok?" Josh you fucking idiot.
"I'm fine." Her mouth forms a little smile. Damn her smile was gorgeous. JOSH WHAT'RE YOU SAYING STOP.

Maya's POV

I say I'm fine when I'm really not, I'm just happy that Josh didn't realise that. After a couple minutes-which felt like years- of more awkwardness I say, "ok I guess I should get going to breakfast."
"Haha yeah, um me too. Well, not breakfast- I mean, maybe I should put on some clothes first." He scratches the back of his next and his abs straight away caught my attention. Holy Jesus. I bite my lip and look at the ground and then try and go past him from my right side, he does the same but with his left. We keep doing that awakened going the same way thing for a while until he puts his hands on my shoulders and gently pushes me to his right and bursts out laughing. I do the same. And head back to breakfast. Great start(!)

"Hey, Maya we should TOTALLY go out shopping today," hinting to her parents that she wants money.
"Reallllly?" I groan, "I hate shopping"
"Pleaseeeeeeeee"
"Ugggh FINE but only, and I mean ONLY we see a movie afterwards."
She jumps up and down and cheers. I laugh at her and sit down. And then Josh walks in. And he sits opposite me.
"Josh you should join the girls today!" Topanga suggests. NO NO NO NO NO NO. I choke a little on my food. I look at him giving him the death glare, indicating him to say no. He laughs and replies, "I think that's an awesome idea, it'd be great to see more of the Big Apple. Right, Maya?" I look up at his gorgeous chocolate orbs and agree with him. It's like he has a spell on me, and it's getting very dangerous.

*** an hour later, shopping. ***

"How about this?" Riley comes out of the dressing room, ONCE AGAIN, with a new outfit.
"Great."
"You're not even looking."
"I don't have to look at you to know that you look beautiful" I say before I actually do look and see how beautiful she looks "woah."
"You guys are like a married couple. Gross" Josh says, ruining the moment- as usual.
"Really Maya? Thank you. And shut up UJ[A/N: 'Uncle Josh']" She says, "I'm so glad mom and dad actually did give me some extra cash, because now I get to buy YOU an outfit for being an amazing friend" she smiles big and bright.
"You need to stop calling me that, honestly. It's embarrassing." He says back
"Aww, I thought it was kinda cute, UJ" I mock him, while he sticks his tongue out at me and I do the same. God this guy... "And Riles, you don't have to buy me anything. It's fine."
"If you weren't going to buy anything at all, if you don't mind me asking, why did you come?" He laughs and sits next to me
"I came to watch a movie."
"What?"
"Riley promised we could go see a movie after, I hate shopping so she bribes me."
"Well, it got you to come. Are you sure you don't want ANYthing?" Riley asks
"Riley, I'm sure." But before I could finish off my sentence, she grabbed me in the dressing room and stripped my clothes off and put me in a white collared blouse with one of those baggy cardigans and to make it more me, she added black skinny jeans and ankle boots and pushed me out.
"Voila." She presents me like I'm a piece of art. Josh looked so shocked. Was it that bad..?

Josh's POV

My jaw literally dropped to my knees as soon as I saw Maya. She looked gorgeous. More than she already was.
"Well.. What d'ya think?" She asks me
"You look hot." I simply reply. She blushes. She's so adorable when she does that aww. WHAT AM I SAYING?! JOSH. A couple more minutes past and the girls pay for their stuff and all I get is a cool hoodie I found. I just like hoodies. I walked next to Maya and held her hand and she immediately looked at our hands, and then me. I smile and she smiles back and surprisingly, doesn't let go. We were walking to the movie theatre as Riley, who was being clueless to what was happening, carried on showing me the sites of NYC.
