Josh's POV

Afterwards, we left to go to back to Cory's house. When we arrived be Matthews' were all sitting in the living room, watching movies. The lights were turned off and as they were flickered on by Maya from behind me, we saw they had blankets and popcorns. Lots of it. There was two empty seats near Topanga, and it was so obvious that she left them both for us.
The all shot their eyes straight towards us, all giving us the death glare. Both me and Maya flinched as I quickly slapped the lights back off and closed the door, so the only light was the TV again.

We kicked off our shoes and joined, getting comfortable and grabbed a huge bowl of popcorn to share and a blanket also.

After Cars was over, and Riley wiped her tears away, "that. was. AMAZING!!!" She screamed, jumping up as Cory pulled her back down almost instantly, with a straight face which had caused us all to laugh slightly.

"I told you guys I choose all the good movies. I should choose more often." Auggie boasts
"Yeah, I don't think so." Maya mocks his actions and they continued to argue but I ft interrupted from the show as my phone buzzed.

ALEX IS STUPID🐷 SENT YOU A MESSAGE. My phone read, ok then, I thought to myself I swiped open my phone and read the message and almost choked on what I read.

Alex The Stupid🐷: BRO OH MY GOD DID YOU HEAR?!!! MELANIE'S BACK!! AND WORD IS; SHE WENT ON VACATION TO SEE HER FAMILY...... IN NEW YORK😵😵
Joshua😎: no. fucking. way.

I replied with, holding back tears and also my anger.

"DAD!" Auggie screamed to his father, snapping me back into reality
"DAD!" Maya mocks him again. And she smiled, which made me smile, forgettin about Melanie altogether.
"Stop it!" He crosses his arms
"Stop it!" She mirrors his actions. And it goes on and on until Cory had enough.

"Ok ok ok! I think that's it for one night. Let's all get some sleep. Gotta a big day ahead of us tomorrow!" Cory rubs his hands together
"What? What are we doing tomorrow?" I ask
"We're goin to Central Park!"
"Yay(!)" Riley, Topanga, Auggie say sarcastically, but Auggie actually meant it.
"Noooo Cor, please!"
"Why not?" He furrows his eyebrows, crossing his arms just like his 7 Year old did a few moments ago
"Because it's crap if we keep going."
"Josh," Cory laughs, "you don't have to don't if you don't want to, no ones forcing you. You came to New York to have a good time, you should enjoy. But YOU GUYS, are going whether you like it or not!" He yells, as a joke, back to his family. Who all cross their arms in sync.

Wow, they really are Cory's, huh?

"FINE." They all roll their eyes in perfect synchronisation.
"Yes!" Cory punches the air, "Maya, you in?" He pleads her.
"Nah, I think I'll pass. But really do appreciate the offer. Thanks Mr Matthews."
"Any time. But remember, if you change your mind. You're always welcome." He says as he hugs her

And we all headed to our bedrooms. Maya decided to sleep in Riley's as it would've been weird if she came to my room and everyone would've saw.

When I changed clothes and went to bed, overthinking had immediately struck.

I can't believe Melanie's back. Why is she back. Oh my god. Josh what are you gonna do?! Do you still have feelings for her..? NO Josh you're with Maya and couldn't be happier.. Right? What am I saying, of course! Ugh, Josh just leave it, she's probably on the other side of New York. It's fine you'll probably never see her.

Maya's POV

We both said our goodbyes to the Matthews' as Cory repeatedly told Josh where all the numbers where in case of an emergency, and where the fire extinguisher was, blah blah blah. But Josh's face was literally the straight face emoji which made me chuckle.
"Don't worry bro, there won't be any need of those numbers, all we're gonna do is watch down TV and we'll get takeout, ok?" He groaned
"Ok but just in case, ok bye guys. I trust you Josh." Cory said. And with that, they left.

We watched some TV and I suggested to watch some American Horror Story, as it was like, the best TV show ever (After PLL...duh)

We watched the first season, probably the scariest one, close comes the third one to be honest.

It came to dinner time as Josh looked at his phone and decided to go the kitchen and dial the restaurant, ordering our pizzas.

He came back and I paused the TV.
"Bad news blossom, the restaurant stupidly doesn't do take out. So I'm gonna have to go get it, come on." He said, grabbing his jacket and keys, heading for the door
"Nooooo, I don't want toooooo." I whined
"Ok fine, because I'm the best boyfriend ever, I'll go get it myself ok?"
"THANK YOU! LOVE YOU LOVE YOU LOVE YOU!" I blew air kisses towards him.
"Stay safe, I'll be back before you know it." And he kissed my forehead and headed out the door.

After a couple of minutes I heard something buzz in the kitchen and decided to ignore it but a couple of seconds later, it buzzed again. It was someone's phone. I went over towards the annoying, repeating, buzz.

It was Josh's.

This was one of those situations where curiosity had gotten the better of me as I unlocked his phone and read the messages.

A: So what do you think Josh is gna do then?
J: ????about what
L: Melanie! What else??????😑
A: yeah she's back
A: and I don't think she's hear to see family
J: holy shit Josh...

And then it buzzed again, I clicked off the group chat and saw the notification was from Alex, I opened it

A: JOSH, WHERE ARE YOU THIS IS DANGEROUS!!!
A: WORD ON THE STREET IS SHES GOING OVER TO CORYS
A: YOU CANT LET MAYA SEE HER OTHERWISE THE DARE IS OVER!!! MELANIE WILL TELL HER FOR SURE!!

I read back the messages, I didn't understand at all, I scrolled up as I saw the ones from last night.

Melanie is back. And she's coming.

I went back on the group chat as it kept on buzzing

J: Josh needs to fucking reply
L: yeah Josh wtf we can see that you're reading these, it says you have
A: yh Josh what's happened, don't do anything stupid you little shit, otherwise I'll beat you up
A: nah but seriously bro, stay strong, don't do anything

I scrolled up the chat, reading old messages. I went up far, real far. Like a week or two far back.

A: how did day 2 of the dare go?😂😂😂
Me: ok I guess, she really likes me guys🔫
J: LMAO😂😂😭😭😭😭😭
A: oh my god!! Priceless.
J: Yo whose idea was the dare, props to you!
L: ME IT WAS ALL ME. I CANT BELIEVE YOURE ACTUALLY DOING THIS!!!

Doing what? Oh my god, is he cheating on me? My heart began to beat faster.

Me: NEITHER CAN I OMG😂😂😂🔫
J: but seriously Logan, where'd you get that idea from
L: I think it was from movie or something I can't remember, but the dude gets dared to date this girl he can't stand. And in the end, they both die or one kills the other idk..
A: nice ending...
J: yeah, lollllll imagine if Maya ends up killing you Josh omg😂😂😂

What...?

Me: she won't do that! Stop scaring me!!!!
L: yeah guys, that probably weren't even the ending
J: dudes, one day, when we're old together I'll say "yo bros remember when Logan dared Josh to go out with Maya at this party?"

My heart almost stopped as I dropped the phone on the carpeted floor.

It was all a dare.
