Lucas' POV

I was so confused about what was happening between Maya and Josh. I was kind of hurt that Maya didn't tell me. But I guess she must've had a lot on her mind.
"So?" I ask, knowing she knows what I'm talking about
"Lucas, we're just frien-"
"Maya, don't give me that, I know you better than you know yourself and I know that you're not 'just friends'."
"Look, even if it's true that you know me better, what I'm saying is the truth."
"Ok, then answer me one question. If it's a no, I'll leave it all. If it's a yes, then we're going to talk about it, -oh and promise no lying. Deal?" I say, putting my hand for a handshake. She thinks about it for a while. "I promise. And deal." She said as she took my hand and finally shakes it. "So what's the question?"
"Have you two kissed?"

Maya's POV

I swear to god my heart STOPPED. Lucas is a lot whole lot smarter than me, how did I not see this one coming?!
"Well?" He says, waiting for an answer
"Yes...." I say quietly, looking awkwardly down at my feet
"I knew it!!" He said
"Only once! Or twice, or three times.. There was that time in the cheek but I don't think you'd count that."
"Maya-"

DING!

Popcorns ready, thank you God! I really don't want to to talk to Lucas about this. I don't know, I just don't think he'd understand. "Maya! Lucas!" Riley shouts, "hurry up with the popcorn would ya?! I'm all out." She says as clear as she could with her mouth full of popcorn and waving her bowl in the air, proving to us that she was finished. She was such a sucker for popcorn. Me and Lucas sit back down and continue watching the movie. "We're not finished." Lucas whispers in my ear.

*** after the movies ***

"Well, " I slap my hands together once, "I guess we can never unsee that."
"Saw was the worst one" Riley shouts
"Riles, Saw doesn't even count as a horror movie, it's just gory and creepy as fuck."
"You can say that again." Josh says as he switches off the TV
"Ok guys," Lucas yawns "I think we should maybe go to sleep now."
"Ok, let's go." I say as I run to the bathroom, beating Riley to it.

After I get out, Josh goes in and cheekily kisses me on the cheek, making me jump as I did not expect that at all. I feel myself blushing hard and look at my feet as I still walk ahead. "Hey, Hart?" Josh calls, I turn around, and he winks at me and I stick my tongue out and run to Riley's room because I felt either Josh or Annabelle, herself, was chasing me. Either way, I had to get out of there.

Lucas comes in the room and Josh heads to his. Scrolling through his social media. Lucas and Josh wanted to sleep in Riley's room tonight because they "felt like they needed to protect us" when really, they were shit scared just like us two. We knew Mr Matthews wouldn't mind because Josh would be there so there would be no funny business.

Riley heads out to the bathroom to do her 10 minute(hour) night time routine. But hey, her flawless skin doesn't just happen. So now it was just me and Lucas. Great. "So, " he breaks the silence "wanna talk now?" He takes a seat on the bay window and pats the empty space next to him, indicating me to sit next to him.
"I guess it's really unavoidable now." I sigh.
"It really is." He says as I take a seat next to him.
"So what's happened for like the past, what? Week, with him?" He asks. And I spill out everything faster than Riley spills her glass of water walking two steps.

His mouth just turned to an O shape. He was speechless.
"Wow, Maya..."
"What do I do?" I ask, tears quickly forming in my eyes
"I honestly- don't even know" he stares blankly, trying to contemplate everything
"No... No." I say with tears rolling down my cheek, "you have to know what I should do! You're supposed to be there for me, always. You're the only who helped me through everything! Not even Riley's done that much, please you have to help me Lucas please please PLEASE I'm begging you!" I cry into my hands. Lucas stands up and pulls me up to and pulls me into a tight hug.
"Maya, don't cry.. Please, don't." He clears his throat, making the lump in his throat go away.

Lucas' POV

"What do I do....?" she says taking a seat at the end of Riley's bed and hugs her knees, I go and take a seat beside her and put my arm around her and she rests her head on my shoulder.
"Look, Maya, do whatever makes you happy, if you want to be with him and he wants to be with you, go for it. If it makes you happy, then it makes me happy, ok?"
"But what about.." She stops herself
"What about what?"
"Riley. What is she ends up hating me? And what if things don't work out, she'll have to choose between me and Josh." She says, turning to face me.
"You're right. But if she loves you, then she'd choose you."
"But she loves him too, they're family. And if she really did love me, I wouldn't be an option."
"Maya, you're REALLY overthinking this. Riley would never choose over you two. Even if she was forced to. And what if things turn out good instead of bad? Stop thinking about the future, especially in a negative way. Think about now."
"Huh." She laughs and sits up straight
"What?"
"It's just what I said to myself aswell."
"Well then, you should listen to that smart stuff that goes flying through your brain, they know what they're saying. Not the negative ones."
"Thanks Lucas."
"You're welcome."
"No, really. Thank you for everything. Honestly, without these talks with you, I don't know here I'd be right now and-"
"Shut up, " I punch her lightly in her arm, "you made yourself stronger."
"Yeah, whatever let's you sleep at night." I say and give him a goodnight hug as I head out to get Josh from his room.
