The warm winds of Summer passed through Kaeya's dark hair. He leant back in the wooden chair he sat upon, his eyes fluttering shut, a heavy sigh leaving his chest.

Another lonely lunch... he thought to himself. He stared at the blue sky above, dotted with clouds. I wish (Y/N) was here.

The sound of chatter surrounded him. A line of customers was beginning to form at Good Hunter, while groups of friends and families alike eating together at tables surrounded him. He swallowed as the realisation dawned upon him that he was taking up a table for really no reason, given he hadn't ordered anything at all.

Hurriedly, Kaeya sat up. He glanced around, and it appeared many people were eyeing the table he was sat at. "Ah, whoops," he mumbled. He immediately stood, giving an apologetic smile to those in the queue, before going on his way.

Pursing his lips, Kaeya fiddled with his gloves, beginning to walk aimlessly. By some miracle, Jean was finally taking a break from work, but unfortunately, she had made sure to get Grand Master Varka to force Kaeya to go on his breaks in her stead. Ah, how troublesome. He would much rather be working than be alone with his thoughts right now.

His eyelashes fluttering, Kaeya sighed once again. Finally, he looked ahead of him, seemingly having zoned out as he was walking. He gazed at the towering homes of Mondstadt, all probably full of their own stories. Stories of happy families, happy friends...

Kaeya blinked. His gaze landed upon a familiar house.

"Next time you're on your lunch break alone, you should come over. You know where August's house is now, right?"

"You should come and eat with us. I don't want you to feel lonely."

Kaeya's eye widened slightly. It had been a few days since he bumped into Lucien and August at the square, and it seemed he had almost immediately forgotten about their offer.

He stood still. Kaeya chewed at his lip in a moment of thought.

Should he really go? It would definitely be awkward being there without (Y/N). It was her aunt, after all, and her father's friend, who he didn't really know at all...

However, it was very entertaining to watch the two together...

Perhaps he could update (Y/N) on how they were doing...

A scheming smile curved Kaeya's lips.

...relationship-wise...

After all, (Y/N) hadn't managed to visit them recently. She had been pretty caught up in work now that the winery was back in full swing after Diluc's departure, and when she would get home, she'd immediately start training with her parents, and then would end up too exhausted to do anything else after that. Well, luckily for Kaeya, the last of her energy was always spent on him whenever he came over.

Kaeya held his chin, humming to himself.

Maybe if I came over with a bit of gossip this time... it might lift her spirits a little more after a long day... Hmm...

With a small nod, Kaeya made his decision.

He approached the familiar wooden door, with baskets of flowers dangling beside it. And then, he knocked.
