The house had been silent for some time. Luca was sitting on the sofa downstairs. Lucien was on the other sofa, her breathing still shaky from what had happened. Luca leant back, his eyes shut with a frown. Leon was still upstairs.

"Lucien, you know something, don't you?" Luca asked. "What were you talking about with (Y/N) yesterday..?"

They began to hear steps coming down the stairs. Luca glanced at the living room door. Leon entered the room with a soft sigh. Luca attempted to smile at him but... Leon couldn't return it.

Lucien sniffled, gripping the blanket around her. Leon stared at the unfinished breakfast on the table, which had long gone cold.

"She was telling me about... being with Kaeya," she mumbled. "Because he's a Ragnvindr... I just wanted to reassure her that she's a (L/N), but..."

"I didn't expect her to get ideas like that." Lucien trembled. "I don't want her to think our family can be good people... That's not what I wanted her to think at all..!"

Luca heaved a sigh. Leon's gaze fell. He'd only gone downstairs to reassure Luca that he was fine but this conversation was a lot more serious.

"Have you told Lucien about that letter yet?" Leon questioned.

Luca pursed his lips. Lucien lifted her head.

"Wh...what letter?"

The three of them froze when they heard a chilling scream from outside.

Luca's heart stopped. He sped towards the window.

No matter what, he could always recognise the voice of his baby.

"No... No!"

Lucien's pupils shrunk. Leon's nails dug into his palm.

"Lucien, get upstairs. (Y/N)'s in danger, and so are you!"

Lucien was struck silent. She hurriedly did as she was told.

Leon nodded at Luca.

And then, Luca opened the front door.

He sucked in a breath. Luca fiddled with his hands behind his back, informing Leon of the situation.

"Luca (L/N)! So you are here after all!" a man exclaimed, gripping his daughter. "I expect that you know why we're here!"

Luca's eyes narrowed. His fists clenched, a soft whisper leaving his lips.

"(Y/N)..." he spoke quietly. "Don't move a muscle, alright..?"

(Y/N)'s pupils shook, the hand against her mouth tightening its grip, that sharp blade just brushing against her neck.

"So what is your choice, Luca (L/N)? Quite the crowd you're attracting here."

Luca glanced around. People were coming out of their houses. A commotion was beginning to stir.

"Give us Lucien. Or we're taking your daughter."

"Why would Lucien be here?" Luca began to fiddle with his hands behind his back. "Why are you so sure that you're not mistaken?"

The man laughed. (Y/N) cried out when the knife poked her as he shook, a trickle of blood seeping down her neck.

"Well, your neighbours are very generous, aren't they?"

At that, the crowds of families coming out of their houses gradually began to back away.

"Hey!!!" they heard a small voice. Luca's eyes widened. "Let (Y/N) go, you beast!!!"

(Y/N) screamed behind the large hand when a little girl came running, before she was swiftly kicked away. "Diona!" Luca exclaimed, though, at the slightest movement he made, that knife came even closer to his daughter's throat.
