The night was dark when (Y/N) made it home. She was having so much fun with Kaeya that she forget that eventually they would have to part ways for the day.

(Y/N) slowly pushed her door open, attempting to close it behind her as quietly as she could.

She waited for a second or two. Normally her father would appear to make sure that she was okay, no matter what time she came home. But today, there was silence.

(Y/N)'s eyebrows furrowed. Immediately, she pushed the living room door open.

Auntie Lucien was fast asleep; that was expected. But... her father...

Luca was also fast asleep, but... he was just sitting on the sofa, his head leant into the cushions behind him, his arms folded. His face was slightly tensed, and... he was wearing his normal clothes.

"Dad," (Y/N) called. She hurriedly approached him, shaking his arm. "Dad, you'll hurt your neck if you sleep like this..."

Luca grumbled slightly in discomfort. He unconsciously tried to remove (Y/N)'s hands, though his arms conveniently fell before he could.

"Dad..!"

Finally, Luca's eyes cracked open ever-so-slightly.

"(Y/N)..?" he murmured. His eyelids shut again. "Why are you awake..."

"Dad, you didn't get ready for bed. Why are you sleeping like this?"

Luca yawned, ignoring her.

"Dad."

Luca's eyebrows furrowed. Finally, he was waking.

"What is it, (Y/N)?" he muttered unexpectedly.

(Y/N)'s eyes widened slightly at his harsh tone. She... she didn't mean to annoy him... No... this would only make it harder for her to ask him...

(Y/N) was silent when her father shuffled, finally sitting up. His head dropped as he rubbed his eyes, another yawn escaping him.

"(Y/N)..?" he mumbled tiredly. "Ah... you're finally home. I was waiting for you..."

(Y/N) shook her head at herself. He was just tired.

"Were you working a lot today, Dad..?" she questioned quietly. "Sorry for making you wait... I was with Kaeya..."

Luca hummed. "There's lots of paperwork to be done... now that Crepus isn't here..." He yawned again. "Ah, I'm so tired..."

"At least sleep laying down, Dad... You should get into the blanket..."

"I will... don't worry sweetheart.. Go to sleep now..."

"Okay... Goodnight Dad..."

Luca simply hummed again, his eyes immediately shutting. (Y/N) heaved a sigh.

I guess I'll just have to ask in the morning...

The morning came soon enough. It was oddly quiet at the breakfast table. Again.

Her father still looked very tired. Mr Leon seemed to be content, eating away. Auntie Lucien was fiddling with her food, her eyes narrow.

(Y/N) had to break this silence. She needed to ask him. Since Auntie Lucien was here too, maybe she could even back her up!

"D...Dad," (Y/N) finally called.
