My steady pace slowed to a halt as I wandered the markets. I wasn't supposed to be here, I wasn't supposed to be anywhere near this part of the city.

I was in highblood territory.

In simple terms, the capital was split between the highbloods and lowbloods quite obviously though the appearance of the city elaborated on that fact. In the lowblood part of the city, which would be the outer ring, the roads were dirt the buildings similar to that of lean-to's and the only bits of light glowed from hanging lanterns. Even the lanterns were shambled. They were steel plates or bowls chains wrapped around the bases and tied at the top to their leaning posts. The flames would shine brightly in the night, though the outer dwelling was nothing to the inner ring. The inner ring was marvelous with white brick roads and building emitting gorgeous lights that made your eyes sparkle. The buildings were well built and had wonderful designs on them that would glow in the nightfall. In comparison to the outer ring, the highbloods inner ring looked like heaven while the lowbloods outer ring looked like an abandoned broken down ghost town. Many a time have I walked by the outer ring and saw children leaning out of their empty windows and staring at the lights of the inner ring smiles on their faces, the lights dancing in their wide youthful orbs. The most of the younger lowblooded female children dreamed of going to The Imperial Palace and dancing the night away with their prince charming in the finest silks and laces. While on the other hand, the lowblooded male children would dream of sailing the seas adventure at every turn treasure in every nook and cranny their best friends at their side in their own ships, owning the seas.

It was quite depressing in all honesty. They thought that they could do wonderful things when in reality if a single follicle of their hair touched the white brick streets, they would be hunted down and culled. Though the inner ring was grand, the imperial palace stood like a beacon of light and beauty in the center of the inner ring, sparkling with life.

It was ironic in a sense. How something so beautiful is really the very thing that makes this race hideous.

Anyway, here I was in the market, looking at a rather striking necklace. I peeked out from under my hood. Everything was calm, people carried on happily buying things here and there. I scanned the crowd one last time before-

Hold up.

Is that The Grand Highblood?

I ducked my head back down and ran my gloved fingers over the jewels upon the necklace, secretly scoping out the scene. Judging by the appearance of the situation, The Grand Highblood was going out with a load of his Subbjugulators on a man hunt.

I chuckled and bit and looked down at the necklace as they passed me. I then looked up at the vendor smirking under my mask as I snatched the necklace. He was paralyzed for a moment then leaned over pointing at me as I began to run.

"THIEF!!!!!"

At the mention of that, the grand highblunt turned around with his subjigulators and scanned the crowd for me. Once they laid eyes on my retreating figure they all raced towards me. With a soft in audible chuckle and vaulted up, using some random trolls shoulder as leverage, and grabbed ahold of an awning frame pulling myself up the necklace in my pocket. Luckily for me, the second I pulled my foot up a subjuggulators hand swooped past where it was.

Better luck next time man.

I jumped up and grabbed a balcony ledge doing the same thing.

Once over the ledge I sat on the railing looking down at the grand highblood and his minions. I cleared my throat slightly and pulled out the necklace looking at it speaking firmly and audibly.

"Purple amethyst and diamond hmm? A pure silver base with black dragon scaling gradient. I must say I'm impressed, I didn't know you highbloods still had dragons' scales laying around considering they're extinct."

I dangled the necklace in front of me and looked down slightly chuckling. I then swung the necklace throwing it at The Grand Highblood then standing up. "I would recommend you take good care of that Highbrain, because I will be back for it and when I do you will be mutilated and burned to death at the hands of yours truly."

I chuckled a bit and stood up on the railing.

"Unless you change your ways of course."

As he caught the necklace and looked up at me clearly angry I gave him a halfhearted cocky salute and turned, climbing to the roof and darting off into the night before the sun could rise above the earth to shine its dangerous yet magnificent rays onto the race it so desperately wished to change.
