*Third Pony*

The next day, at 7am, Flash was standing outside of Rainbow Manor. Dash came out wearing a red baseball cap and a red whistle. A clipboard was in her hoof and she read over it. "Okay Flash. You ready?"

"Yes ma'am." They flew off to a small open space in the woods. A course was set up for Flash to complete.

"So first off, I got to see how you take off, land, and how fast you can fly."

Dash gave him a signal and with that Flash took 3 strides then took off. He flew at a good speed. The Wonderbolts coached them in flying for a month. So Flash knew how to push his limits, and when he wasn't pushing hard enough.

Flash circled around, then came in for a landing. He landed softly and Dash wrote down a few things before going over the last and final part of his test. "So now you will have to weave through the trees, fly upside down, go between a tight space, and over and under a few objects. You will be timed for this part." Flash nodded and started weaving. He cleared that part without a problem. Next he had to fly upside down. He did 180 and started to fly upside down. He dodged a few rocks and bushes before he spun right-side up. He saw a black tube up ahead and started to gain speed. Flash flattened his wings to his side and flew through the tunnel without a problem.

Rainbow Dash was impressed. She watched as Flash went onto flying over and under objects. She wrote down a few things and looked at his time when he landed. She wrote it down and gave him his score. "Not bad Flash." Dash smiled at him and showed him his score. He got an eight out of ten. Which wasn't that bad. He would still be in first.

"Thank you Ms. Dash." Flash smiled and was about to fly away when Rainbow grabbed his hoof.

"Flash, I hope you win." she winked at him, but he didn't get it. The stallion just thanked her and flew away.

Back at the castle Golden was about to be tested. Golden didn't know much about magic. He could do a few things, but not much. He was waiting in Princess Twilight's study room. She was getting a few things ready and soon she was telling Golden what to do. "So you're going to have to levitate this apple, then I will hide it and you will have to locate it. Then you must perform a protection and a healing spell." Twilight told him. Golden nodded and started to levitate the apple. He had no problem with that. He set it back down and Twilight made it disappear. Golden focused on the object and found that it was in the kitchen. He focused on wanting the object and then it appeared in front of him. Princess Twilight nodded and wrote down a few things.

Fluttershy came in with her pet rabbit Angel and sat him on the table. "Okay Golden. Put a protection spell on Angel." he nodded and tried his best. A concentrated look took over his face, but the only thing he could get to come out was a tiny yellow spark. He sighed as Twilight wrote something on the clip board. She then used her magic to make the rabbit cough. Fluttershy was trying to stop herself from scooping up Angel and nursing him back to health.

Golden tried his best to make the rabbit healthy again, but only a faint yellow spark came out. He looked down at his hooves as Twilight healed the rabbit and wrote down his score. "Well, you got 5 out of ten. You excelled at levitation and location. But your spells need some work." she smiled and dismissed him.

Fluttershy picked up Angel and started to cuddle him to death. "Oh Angel! I'm so glad you're okay." the little white rabbit crossed his arms and rolled his eyes.

Later that day during dinner, Twilight and Shining decided to announce who won. Shining spoke first. "We have the results for the test. We are proud to announce that Flash Sentry has won. Golden Touch got second, and Note Worthy third."

"Tomorrow will be your ceremony," she told Flash then turned to the other two guards. "You guys will have tonight to sleep in the rooms before you move to the living quarters." the guards nodded then excused themselves to clean up and start packing. Shining left to go write a letter to the Princesses and let them know a guard has been chosen and the ceremony is tomorrow.

Twilight decided to tell Flash a few things before he left. "Congrats."

"Thank you Princess. It's an honor to serve you." the purple mare smiled then continued.

"You will be staying in your room, permanently. And tomorrow at the ceremony you must wear your uniform. Shining will tell you more tomorrow. I just wanted to give you a heads up."

"Thanks." Twilight got up from her chair and left, leaving Flash alone to his thoughts.

A/N

Hey guys! We all saw this coming. Its a Flashlight book, so how else are they supposed to bond? I hope your having  good week. School is coming up and to be honest, ITS STRESSING ME OUT!

I'll be updating on Saturday. Tomorrow is a busy day for me.

And just a heads up, when I go back to school, I will only be updating twice a week, or when I can. I'll have more info out when we get closer to sept. 8th.
