*Twilight Sparkle*

(It's Monday)

It was around 6am and I went to knock on Flash's door to let him know I was up. After yesterday I showered myself to death so I wouldn't be all sticky. I smelled faintly of apple frosting, and my hair was still clumped together in some parts.

I knocked and it took him a few minutes before he opened the door. His hair was messy and he smelled like vanilla. He smiled when he saw me and I couldn't help but blush. "Sorry to wake you so early, but I was headed to the library for a bit. And since you're my personal guard and all, I thought-" he cut me off by covering my mouth.

"I'll be ready in a few minutes." he lowered his hoof slowly and shut the door. I stood there in the hall. What was I going to do in the library? I mean I could read, but with Flash around I feel like there is more to do. Plus finding out how to defeat who ever could wait. I have a good nine months.

Soon Flash came out dressed in his armor and we walked down the hall, took a left, walked down that hall until we reached the huge crystal doors. I stopped him before he could open the door. "What's wrong Twilight?" he seemed confused.

"I have no intention on reading books right now." I sighed.

"Then what do you want to do?"

"Maybe we could..." I trailed off. Then it hit me. "I want to see love happen. Like ponies making googly eyes at each other and stuff."

"Um, okay. But how are you going to do that?"

"Well I'll watch two ponies from a distance and observe. I'm going to need a visual if I'm going to figure out how this is supposed to defeat the villain." I used my magic to open the doors of the library. I grabbed my clipboard, paper, and quills.

We raced to Sugar Cube Corner, only to find it was closed. So we went to the cafe and found two ponies on a date. I wrote down everything I saw. But in the end it concluded to a fight and then a break up.

I sighed and Flash led me to the restaurant across the street. He pointed out a set of ponies that seemed to be on a date. I watched them as they talked and held hooves across the table. They smiled at each other and laughed at stupid jokes. They even seemed to stare into each other's eyes for long periods of times. At one point when the date was over they hugged and the stallion kissed the mare's cheek. You could see in their eyes that they had something special.

I wrote down everything, then found another couple to compare. They did things differently, but had that same look in their eyes. I starred the notes about the eyes and observed the last pony couple. They had the same results.

I scribbled down the last of my notes, and Flash helped me out of the bush we were sitting in. "Why don't we get brunch while we're here." He offered.

"Okay." I smiled and we sat down at a table. The menu was really fancy. Fancy as in decorated, mainly in French, with foods that sounded fancy. Flash ordered a bagel and a strawberry smoothie. He must really like strawberry smoothies. It's the only thing he drinks at cafes, and apparently restaurants. I ordered an omelet with Apple Juice.

I could tell Flash was trying to read my notes, but they were upside down to him. So I levitated the board across the table for him to read. He scanned the notes and looked hard at them. "Do you think what you saw in their eyes was an indication of Love?"

"Maybe." I shrugged and he slide the notes across the table. The waiter delivered our drinks and we sipped on them. Soon I found myself staring into Flash's eyes. I have no clue how long it lasted. He seemed to be lost in mine just like how I was lost in his.

Soon the waiter delivered our food and we snapped out of it. I blushed and tried to focus my attention on the napkin. I couldn't believe that that just happened. We were like all the other pony couples.

We ate in silence, and I was kind of glad for that. Soon we finished and he paid, which wasn't necessary. We got up and walked through town, looking for something to do. I felt a few drops of rain land on my muzzle and back. Then it started to pour. Flash led me down an alley, and under in awning.

We were still getting wet but not as much before. I found myself getting lost in his eyes again. And I wasn't going to stop myself. They were such a beautiful shade of blue. There was a crack of thunder which pulled me out of my trance. I felt my checks heat up as Flash looked at me and blushed.

"I'm sorry." I studied the ground, as if there was something fascinating about it.

"It's okay." He said. I looked at him and smiled. He was so nice. Nice and caring. I could see Flash being my special some pony. But I always study, and I have no clue how relationships work. I would fail at being a marefriend. "Princess, is everything okay?" he pulled me out of my thoughts.

He used princess. I sighed and said, "Yeah, I guess."

"You just seemed kind of upset." he seemed concerned. Lighting lit up the sky and outlined his body.

"I'm fine." It was silent for a while, I wanted to say something, but I couldn't think of anything to say.

"Why are you so interested about love." he finally spoke up.

"Because somehow, we are supposed to use it against the villain." I spat out.

"Well, I mean before that. You were studying it." He was right, I was.

"Because after what happened at Shining Armor and Princess Cadence's wedding, I wanted to know how it worked. How their love was so strong. I wanted to know what it was like. But I'm too much of a book worm to put myself out there." I was being honest. I wanted to know how love worked, how to find it. But you can't find it. It's just something that comes along and surprises you.

"But that's not all," he looked at me. "You want to be loved. But you're afraid, and are used to your own ways. You're afraid to commit because you don't know how. You're afraid to be let down and broken." I looked at him in astonishment. It was like I was a book, and as he read me, he understood me perfectly. "Twilight, it's okay to open up. And-" but I cut him off.

I surprised myself. I surprised him. His lips were warm and welcoming. They also tasted like the strawberry smoothie he was drinking earlier.

At first he was tense, but relaxed after a few seconds. I can't believe I'm kissing him, and he seemed to enjoy it. I seemed to enjoy it.

I pulled away and blushed. I opened up. I'm opening up for him. And that's when I saw that sparkle in his eyes that I saw in the other ponies.
